Two of my favorite spots are the gorgeous 1920s Paramount Theater on Main Street and the Williams Viaduct, a marvel of bridge engineering. Haven't been there in years. Hope to visit soon.

My G X 5 - Grandfather discovered Lynchburg, VA. My Mother did vast genealogy research before the Home Computer era. Must get to this city for an experience of my lineage. 💚🍀💚

Momunent Terrace: When the first attacks on Afghanatan to defeat the taliban were in progress, a group of anit- war protestors formed and at the base of momument terrace. Veterans got together obtained a permit and started a "Support our troops" counter protest. Every Friday (even Christmas and snow, rain or heat) Lynchburg remains loyal to our vets. Over 1000 weeks the vets are supported, momunent terrace a must see, first Korean memorial in the states.

Really laughed quite hard at certain points, you've got a great sense of humor. And I'm really hankering after one of those Cheesy Westerns! Going to see if I can find me one here in 'Schland, wish me luck

That's not the room where Lee surrendered to Grant. 🇺🇸 The original McLean house is long gone and what you see there is a reconstruction of it. Still a one-of-a-kind, awesome place on Earth !

@Rao665 Actually, Bedford and Appomattox are both pretty close. The truth is that the one thing everybody who goes to that region must do, assuming they're not Civil War buffs, is climb Peaks of Otter in the very nearby mountains (a bus can take you up most of the way if you prefer).

Don't forget that Desmond Doss, whose life is portrayed in the Mel Gibson movie Hacksaw Ridge and he's played by Andrew Garfield was from Lynchburg.

Wonder what in god's name could possibly be in the "Lynchburg Museum?" I went to the Portland Museum in Oregon and it consisted of mock-ups of Indian teepees and Zorro lunchboxes. Lynchburg's might prove even more interesting.

Maybe? But that is not what the town is named after. John Lynch was a businessman who owned the Ferry.
