Lyndon Johnson ascended to the presidency upon the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He was a large, imposing man, who had been an influential Senate Majority Leader and Vice President. And as President, it is difficult to say whether he is remembered better for his incredible domestic accomplishments or his miserable failure in foreign policy that was the Vietnam War. Either way, his presidency coincided with the tumultuous and revolutionary 1960s, with its hippie counterculture and shifting cultural landscape, so let's get a closer look at this fascinating figure now.
