Some basic information on what you can do with these Gull wind turbines by Lynx Wind. How to hook them up and a little more about Lynx Wind. www.lynxwind.com
I have admired your professional video presentations for about six months now. You are very kind in your desire to help others. Your presentations are very well thought and very impressive. Will look forward to your future presentations.

I dig it. Makes me want to tinker around and try some even smaller turbines. People always complain about how one of these won't produce power for a house.. But only a fool would think like that. I'd rather have a dozen of these than one big 2000w unit that shuts down my entire system if it dies.

Thanks, I have tried many configurations over the years of testing. There is a reason for the central rotor on a wind turbine this size. The geometry is pretty tight. A much larger structure and pole could accommodate what you are thinking about.

nice design work on the wind turbine. my 3 phase running off a pulse motor used a similar 3 phase coil design without metal and the output was pretty good. no load , it got over 106.8 volts on single strand of #18 wire. me and my buddy are putting it back together to run some more test on it since i just moved. ill try and shoot you a line soon and possibly share some info. again, great job!

Absolutely. This video was done for people asking for very basic information. On this small turbine the rectifier can be mounted on the stator or nearer the battery. Even explaining a rectifier can lose some people. Most videos need to be kept under 2 minutes and this one ran long.

Oh a quick question, could you use the inverter to convert to 200 -240w AC?
@Digidoc316

Love the rotor assembly! Question: wouldn't the output to the battery be a net zero because your feeding wild AC into a DC source? Wouldn't you need a rectifier bridge to convert the wild AC to fluctuating DC?

Great video LynxSteam. Is than an off the shelf wind turbine or a kit type and does it already come with the alternator? Just curious. Thanks

On average about .01kwh. This is a small turbine intended for battery maintaining, efficient lighting off an LJL sjr3.0 circuit. It does not need a controller because it doesn't put out enough power to worry about overcharge.

Just found your video and checked out your website - very nice. I've been thinking about putting up a wind turbine but never cared for the horizontal ones as well. Looks like you have put a lot of work into it. Have you thought about having two rotor arms - one on top and one on bottom (instead of just one in the middle) so you could have two rotors producing power? Also any thoughts on stacking more than one on a pole? Craig

These are easy to assemble complete turbines that we manufacture. They are broken down for shipping. They include the alternator which is the flat thin piece holding the rotor and is part of the hub. If you go to the website at the bottom of the Gull 160 page is the manual for the turbines.

Good to see you chose 3 blades , this tells me you understand the concept very well, it bothers me to see good money and time wasted on the horrible 4th blade,lol any way if you build a large unit dont use a generator instead use a air compressor the non lubricated type and configure it to not run as an ari motor due to back pressure . compressors can be very small and yet deal with a broader operating spectrum then generators , the air system would not need to worry about furling devices because it will work best when other windmills must shut down due to over speeding , this would cause the generator to burn up as you no but an air compressor could simply pump more air into a tank, a special sensor would change which tank the compressor would pump into , under high speeds the device would pump into a high pressure tank low speeds would be a low pressure tank that was once high pressure but has bin drained to power an air motor connected to the system to drive a generator , i have a stack of diagrams you can view if you ever find yourself looking for ideas , im not asking you for money im just not into hording ideas , i have thousands why keep them all to my self.

How can a turbine not have resistance v either an ac or dc generator presents resistance to the wind. .ie work is done ...that's how energy is transmitted to the battery or motor or lightbulb

Yes, just look for a 220 inverter. Keep in mind this small turbine is meant for 12 volt battery maintenance. The larger Gull 160 puts out 24 volts and would be more suited for a 220 inverter.

This little turbine is equivalent to a Rutland 503. It puts out in typical winds 5-20 watts. I have seen peaks of 42 watts but there really is no chance of over charging a 12 volt battery. It's more a maintainer but can power several 110 v LED bulbs if the right circuitry is used. That's the next video.
@Grizzydan

At least charge controllers are cheap these days. Much cheaper than even 4 years ago.
@gravelydon7072
5 жыл бұрын
@@Grizzydan Yep. And despite what is thought, 42 watts can overcharge a battery. Wattage is volts times amps and depending on the battery, it could go up to 3 amps at 15 volts. And that, if not designed for, can result in boiling of the battery. While wind seldom is continuous in strength, it still has to be planned for.
@fishhuntadventure

@@gravelydon7072 that is what i was thinking. the 6A alternator in my boat motor when something went bad went to 20+ volts and did all kinds of havoc. 3A could do that in time, too.

since it was brought up; a rectifier for this unit is inexpensive and would be about 5$ and is used to convert acv to dcv and would go between the turbine out and the battery

I had that bit in the video but it was getting long. If someone gets to the point of buying and installing a wind turbine the owner's manual is far more detailed. Maybe I will do a followup on installing a wind turbine including the rctifier this time.

it's the wild ac that isnt useable - you convert that to DC and store it in a battery to use with a regulated 120V pure sine inverter and nothing gets destroyed

I see that your new model has struts attached, you will need them in your subculture science of high turbulence that you will experience sailing close hauled down wind; then up wind. Ha. Ha. Again, please do not try and mislead people and do publish what your garden ornament will produce in electricity at 10, 15 and 20 miles an hour and its cost. Will your money gimmick out produce a solar battery charger that can be purchased at Harbor Freight for $15? You are not being honest!
