Chinese (Toishanese speaking) from Guangdong too went to Canada (before its official formation) to build the transcontinental Canadian Pacific Railway. They were the pioneers of Chinese migration to Canada.

Canada has its own Chinese Exclusion Act in 1923 to bar Chinese from immigrating to Canada after the poll tax failed to curb Chinese immigrants from coming. Chinese were imported to help build the railways. After the railway construction was completed, the Canadian government looked for ways to get rid of them.
Younger generations must read & understand historical facts about their own country plus geo-politics otherwise they can’t figure out root of problems.
As stated much earlier that Chinese (Toishanese speaking) from Guangdong went to what is now Canada around mid-19th century to build the transcontinental railway there. That rail project was very important that led to the formation of Canada as a nation. Hakkas also constituted the railroad workers, and they too were pioneers of Chinese migration to Canada
