As a Malaysian, I never pay attention to my own country. I have learned a lot from your videos. Very informative and interesting to learn about my own country from a foreigner’s perspective
i started to binge watch your channel. Why? Because it makes me feel warm, fuzzy and homesick. I live and work in Sydney Australia. Your channel brings me back so many good memories when I was studying in college in the 90s. I will drive everywhere with my gang to shop and cari makan.

Viewed your video for the first time, very nice to hear your oral English, one of the very few Hong Kongers that speak at this level of proper pronunciation. Cheers!

I concur your observation on the english pronounciation. I face delay in processing dialogue in english with Hong Kongers. I found they use rhtym when speaking.

I respectfully beg to differ. I'm a Malaysian who has lived in HK for 30 years. Your perspective of HKers' oral proficiency in English is a common one. It's one that I can understand but I do not share. I would put it down to - there's no nice way to put this - a stereotype born of a narrow range of HKers you've likely encountered. Unlike Malaysia, HK is far more cosmopolitan and certainly more of an itinerant society. There is a huge percentage of HKers who are not local born but who have nonetheless adopted HK as their home. They are HKers that seldom come to mind when you watch TVB. They're the ABCs, CBCs, BBCs and other foreign-born Chinese who've returned to the HK that their parents left and many of whom have adopted HK as home. Such a demographic does not feature prominently among us in Malaysia - we do not have much of their equivalents in Malaysia (far far short of the same extent even if there were). And so most Malaysians are not cognisant of such HKers, but they are very much a mainstay of HK. (If you manage to catch the programme entitled "La Dolce Vita" on TVB's channel Pearl, you will know what I'm talking about.) When we include them into the mosaic of HKers, I would say there are in fact no less "Hong Kongers that speak at this level of proper pronunciation" than there are such Malaysians. Let's no forget that the standard of English in Malaysia, spoken or written, has inexorably been in decline since the early 70s, generation after generation. On the contrary, the stream of foreign-born Chinese returning to their forebears' homes in HK has not abated all these decades. If anything, this would render the average standard of spoken English in HK higher than in Malaysia. I suspect you may have to revisit your perspective in this regard. Just sharing my own experience and my wish to dispel an all too common misperception of HK and HKers.

A good comparison & objective opinion between DPC & MK. 👍👍👍 Congratulations to you for moving to a new house. Hope your family will enjoy your stay in DPC. Stay safe & healthy. Ga yao! 💪💪💪
Hello Gary! I’m the first to comment this time haha. I hope to meet you one day in DPC, the place I intend to reside in upon my return from London. My cousin who is now retired, moved back from Melbourne and she’s loving the place. She used to rent in Mont Kiara too and found it too congested, hence the decision to settle in DPC.. So, I hope this will become a happy home for you and your family too! I heard through the grapevine that a new MRT line won’t be too far away with park and ride facilities...situated somewhere in Sri Damansara East / Kepong (I haven’t a clue which is which!).

Desa Park City township planning done by a Malaysian Chinese developer that includes Australian township ideas - include commercial, parks and dog friendly, which is why quite a number of expats, Malaysian Chinese families and foreigners choose to stay in Desa Park City. The housing is mixed with linked houses, bungalows, apartments / condos and commercials (that caters for needs of residents - supermarkets, restaurants, hair salon, pets store and etc.). It is gated and guarded for apartments / condos, linked houses and bungalows which address the security concerns on outsiders going into Desa Park City for jogs or patronise commercial facilities in the vicinity.
Desa Park 最大缺点就是周末或者搞活动时候,简直塞车到一个点。然后越来越建多新公寓,人口密度会很高。其实点解不考虑 Valencia, 那里环境舒服度真心好。

Locals prefer to stay in DPC than MK simply for daily life necessity needs like food and close proximity to mature areas like Kepong, Damansara, PJ where their family and friends are living. Locals that buy MK properties mainly for investment and rentals. Of course there are many affluent residential areas within KL and Selangor that mostly stayed by local residents that have yet to be explored by foreigners living here and can be equally as good.

Good Sharing👍🏻 Possible to have sharing related to Topic KL International School . From HK ppls point of view. How u guys choose the school for kids.
