@@HistoryinFirearms would the hasty function of this work with a pump shotgun? Or simply put which way do you think this sling would work best with a shotgun?
@HistoryinFirearms
Жыл бұрын
@Ed P. The hasty sling would absolutely work with a pump shot gun and would probably be more practical than the loops sling. With that being said, the canvas/nylon M1 Web sling may be a more practical sling option if you are not going to use the loop sling set up. I do have a video on that sling also.

Jesus. I looked this video up because I was researching the m14 crazy horse which is still being issued and comes with that sling. That's a lot of work to use it as an aid. Im surprised they still use these.

It can be some work to use the loop sling. There are some other techniques and setups for this sling out there also. That being said, while fairly complicated and intimidating at first, the sling is pretty versatile and easily adjustable. Making it a pretty good hasty sling. With the plethora of sling options out now days though, I am also surprised it is still issued.

I feel like my sling is a little longer than some. I followed this video and a few others to the exact details, and I still can’t tighten mine all the way like that. The only way I can get it right is if I take the short strap forks and extend them over and passed the long strap forks and into some of the further holes, which in my case seems to be the ones that are literally on the loop of strap coming out of the front sling swivel.
@HistoryinFirearms

There are definitely some variations in the slings that are out there and available.

@@HistoryinFirearms I was finally able to get it somewhat right, I had to take the hooks on the long strap passed the keeper and into the last two available holes, just after the sling swivel near the front of the rifle. Then the short strap hooks into the last two available holes on the long strap. It’s not quite as tight as I’d like it, but it’s the best I can do with what I have. For a 1943 rifle, do you know if this leather M1907 sling is correct for the time period? Or wouldn’t webbing sling be correct.

Thanks I have two leather slings sitting the drawer to put on my Garand and 1903A Springfield. I think I like my webslings better, but the leather way cool.

@@HistoryinFirearms i got a 1942M1 Garand but what was more original in WW2 days? Web sling or leather? Im trying to keep it original
@HistoryinFirearms
2 жыл бұрын
@@XxBlacKkNighTxX7 Impossible to tell what was "original" on the rifle. The cotton web sling was adopted in 1942 and would have likely taken a little bit to get fielded. I would say the M1907, M1923, or M1 cotton sling would all be "correct" for your M1. So I think it comes down to what look you like best.

From what I can tell, the leather slings were used up in service until they were gone, then the Web sling became the standard in armories during the Korean War. Edit: I imagine a lot of snipers and marksmen from WW2 through Vietnam with Springfields, M1Ds and Winchester Model 70s may have tried to get ahold of the leather slings to get the option of stability loops.

I'm sorry I must be a idiot or something I'm just not following what going on here I've watched the video four times I still can't understand how to adjust it. My sling is not like the one shown in here. It's similar but it's not the same. The short strap does not have any holes that are drilled out. I also cannot adjust a sling like you say you can do in the video
@HistoryinFirearms

Sounds like maybe the issue is the difference in the sling?
