@@OmardottcomNo, Daimler owned Chrysler and Chrysler got most of their parts from Mercedes, that's why the Chrysler Crossfire is based on the Mercedes SLK. Even Dodge uses an improved version of E-class platform nowadays on their Chargers and Challergers. The LX platform.

Martin Lang theres Almost no plastic on this Engine!? Mostly Aluminum and Magnesium

Hans Gerd I got this one confused with the m272, this came after the m112. The used of plastic in the induction system and the soft metal balancer shaft sprocket has made these engines into a time bomb. What concerns me is the inaccessible plastic shutters within the induction manifold that can break and not be repaired but needs the entire induction system replaced at considerable cost.

I have the M112 3.2 in a 2001 E320 with 280km and its a brilliant engine. Sounds great, good power and very reliable.

Superbly reliable engines. They may burn oil but you just about can’t kill them. The only bad thing other than oil burning as they age are the magnesium parts which are very prone to corrosion and therefore leaks. Parts made of magnesium alloy are the intake manifold, valve covers, and rear cover.

I have a Mercedes w202 c280. It has an engine like this, but they told me that the engine on it is a 2007 engine, is this possible?

the 280-350 engines have the m272 engine not the m112. They are both V6 engines but a different build style. Your engine is very known for having problems with the balancing shaft which is very expensive in repair, but are still great engines, if they are not affected by the poor build material of said camshaft mostly used in models till 2007.

The w202 c280 in fact has the m112 engine. The m272 didn't come out until later

@@straightausffm1495 Replacement engines might still have been made. The M112 was built into new cars 1997 to 2005 or so, so this seems plausible to me.

@@DC-rn1fc actually to correct myself completely. He has a w202(I don‘t know how I mixed it up with the w203), which has the m104 engine as the 280 versions not the M272. M272 was first built in 2004, so I dont think any w202 has that engine in it. I do believe the w202 c320/c240 does have the m112 engine in it tho since it was built from 1997 till 2004. Could be wrong tho.

@@jacobvanbruggen5462 Yes it does have the M112, not in the 280 version tho( In the 240 version I believe) I have made a reply to DC where I mixed up my statement, cus i thought he was talking about the w203. The 280 has the M104, of which I don‘t know nothing about. But is probably a solid engine since I‘ve never heard anything bad about Mercedes V6 engine till the M272 came out. Edit: actually the M104 is an I6 and a very solid engine.
