Your videos have been helping me a significant bit! Sometime next year, I'm hoping to shoot a series based during the first world war, and your videos are contributing a fair bit in better understanding the equipment, its proper use, the problems that come with it and the time era in general. Thank you for the content!

See these enough from across the lines at Newville PA twice a year. Always liked the field telephone operator helmets with the cut outs for the ear piece of the phone to go over the ear.

Repros will never achieve the right shape of originals. They can get close, but never exact as originals. Repros tend to have larger Bills and are more short. If I were you, I would save up for a original. They are being sold on Facebook and eBay everyday.

@@prussianproductions9958 At an antique mall near me, they had an original M16 Stahlhelm without the liner, but in pretty good condition for sale for 250 USD. Do you think this is a good deal?

I'm building am m17 helmet out of 12 gauge steel wire sounds strange? I don't have money for a real one and I wanted the shape as close as possible. I'm using aluminium foil tape and a special iron oxide metal paste that harden into iron to fill the slight gaps. It will look just like a real one but much heavier around 55lb lol and thicker and probably stronger as I'm covering it in fiberglass.

An also a bullet wouldn't break someone's neck from ballistic impact they didn't use as many because it was limited to certain people that could handle the weight or MG squads and snipers. It was said that it was pretty effective even stopped Lewis gun 308 rounds. The way the helmet is designed negates impact effectively. Bullets are high speed I have seen stories of people getting shot directly in the head multiple times and surviving in ww1. An mg08 probably could do that to someone but not standard rifles and machine guns, heavy machineguns perhaps.

Der deutsche Stahlhelm hat mit dem deutschen Schaller wenig bis nichts gemein. Ich sehe da kaum Ähnlichkeit. Ansonsten gut erklärt 😉
