@@samuelbishop1701 I'm in the Italian Army and carry an ARX-160 with a grip and a bipod. Would this make me the automatic rifleman of my team? This is cool.

Maybe for the average LARPER. This is a junior marine aka boot. Once he masters his rifle he’ll be able to reload faster than someone who carries a pistol. At the police academy I proved this to my highers. I am a prior Infantry marine; I have faster speed reloads with a Carbine than our police chief with prior swat experience and working the beat for 15 years can switch to his pistol. As a prior rifleman that is your lifeline. You must know it more than you know yourself, train with it to down the enemy before they down you. Senior and seasoned Infantry rifleman can speed re load faster than average troops in the army, civilian police force etc. infantrymen don’t need sidearms and if their primary goes down that’s just a lazy Rifleman who had it coming. Plus only officers, SNCOs and 0331 Machine gunners actually rate pistols anyways.

Absolutely no recoil. The M27 is perfect for the infantry I don’t understand why they don’t issue this to the entire U.S. military get rid of the M4

There is still recoil. When you apply proper shoulder pressure and lean into a bipod there minimal recoil. Same on the 249

@@lobotomy_central it's meant to replace the light machine guns in squads by taking the LMG out and putting a "lite" (the M27) version of it in the hands of each squad mate. In theory it increases the capability of establishing fire supremacy among a bunch of other stuff -did two years of NROTC, then failed out. I'm just saying what our Gunnery Sergeant told us a while ago :)

I understand replacing M4s/M16s with this, I've read the data. But it was suggested that the M27 replace the M249 as the automatic rifleman, which is a very different swap. Can someone more knowledgeable explain to me how an assault rifle, however reliable, accurate, and resistant to heat buildup, could compete with a belt fed weapon taking 100+ round drums? It seems to me the 30 round box mags would be the Achilles heel keeping it from filling that role laying down massive volume of fire. Enlighten me please.

I’m a HUGE fan of the 249. That’s my baby. I like the 27 but in my personal opinion it doesn’t replace the 249. 30 rounds goes quick no matter the rate of fire then you’re left running with empty mags. Dump 200 rounds then throw the drum, way easier. People will say the 249 is trash and misfires and jams. In my experience clean it right, lube it right, and actually know how to operate it and it will never fail you. So what if it’s heavier, Marines can handle it. Hope this helps
