The M5 motorway runs for 166 miles (267km) from the M6 at Birmingham, to the A30/A38 junction at Exeter, an important link joining the West Midlands to the South West of England and a popular holiday route to Devon and Cornwall. It's the only single-digit road in Great Britain that doesn't radiate from either London or Edinburgh. The route largely replaced the overloaded A38, opening in stages between 1962 and 1977.
This video shows a largely northbound route along the M5 motorway, from junction 25 for the A358 at Taunton to junction 24 for the A38 at Bridgwater.
Filming date: September 2021.
