In 1982 I had the opportunity to spend a week in Muscle Shoals and Belmont with Mac and his family and the folks at Wishbone studios. I met Mac's mother, father sisters, wife and baby daughter and even Barney Cruz . I did in an attempt to write an article for a national college magazine prior to the release of the the Nothin' But the Truth Album. My article was rejected by the magazine but it remains one of the highlights of my life. Mac was/is a special talent, a wonderful person, and a delight to be around as was everyone else I met in his circle.

Both cool guys! After a concert, I had pretty much the same conversation with Mac about "Somewhere Nice Forever." It helped me survive my mother's death. He seems to really enjoy hanging out with his fans and is such a very sweet man.

Great interview!! You really let him talk (some interviewers are big interrupters) and asked the right questions.

I literally grew up under the water tank in Belmont, MS......I never climbed to the top of it (afraid of heights), but I did lay on the side of the river bank a time or two.
