Tomorrow I'm gonna but this exact model laptop. This video helped me a lot. Loved your content and the way you explained. Thanks a lot.

Ok sweet! Awesome laptop! If you don't mind something bigger the 15 inch one is very nice as well. But if you're on a budget, the 13 inch is still a beast too!

I wanna buy the same model do you recommend it? Because some people told me that some apps like final cut Pro and garageband don't work anymore in this version is it true or not?

A $56 16GB RAM upgrade, and a $49 Kingston SSD upgrade does magic!!! I got a mid 2012 with an i5, for $150. I did the desperately needed upgrades. Runs like a new MacBook! It originally had a pathetic 4GB of RAM, and a shotty 10 year old HDD.

Nice! Not bad at all!! So powerful, it's crazy how people think there pc is done, when all it needs is upgrades! Right to repair ftw!

Great video! I still use my 2012 i7 13 inch Macbook Pro as my "Main DJ" laptop. I maxed out to 16gb RAM. Installed an SSD and it runs BOTH the LATEST Traktor Pro 3 and Serato Pro 2, 2022 "latest" versions, as of the date I am writing this. BOTH "popular" DJ apps run like champions still. Even when I use Midi Hardware synths and drum machines! Still the BEST DJ laptop ever released IMO. Built like a tank. Great for taking on the road for gigs. LOADS of ports for connecting gear. Parts are cheap and easy to replace. None of this "soldered nonsense". "If" you keep at least 20 gigs of free space. MINIMAL Apps installed. I only have Serato, Traktor, Mixed in Key and ALL my "Music" installed now. I removed my DAW and Plugin Software over to my Studio Desktop and my Alienware 17 Laptop. My DAW was and still works great on this 2012 Macbook Pro 13". But my "Plug-In's" started to "Bog Down" the system. So, as a "standalone DJ Laptop". I still rate this little machine in 2022 and it still performs like a champ! "If" you're a "DJ" and want a "solid APPLE DJ machine" in 2022, for a very reasonable cost. I can still highly recommend the 2012 13" Macbook Pro i7 model! Great video and I thought that I would just put my current "personal usage", for this laptop, going strong still, in late August 2022.... Cheers!

Thanks for commenting your experience! Awesome to hear from a real DJ! People will super appreciate your personal thoughts! I’ve been listening to a ton of live dj’s and they all use a pre 2015 MacBook laptop, especially the 2012 ones! You notice the Apple logo lighting up, and you know it’s the OG ones, more ports and all! Nobody wants to carry around so many dongles haha. Keep up the good work! And good vibes! Keep on making the world a better place! P.S! I have the Alienware 2014 17! Made a review on it way back. Still going strong! Big beast of a machine! :)

First of all I love these reviews... they’re so honest and realistic. You clearly love every piece of tech you own. It also teaches me a lot about the software I already have without feeling like I need to upgrade to the newest thing... (most reviews tend to focus on the latest trends... which can be pricey and daunting). My second comment/question: 5 or 6 monitors in the background? ....

I have two of this exact model, both 2.9Ghz i7 13" MacBook pros, I have updated with 16GB RAM and SSD drives. Fantastic workhorse machines. One is permanently at my desk as my office computer, connected to a Cinema Display. Just amazing that it still functions as my primary computer and is ten years old! If you find one in good condition snap it up.

That's awesome man!! Those are fully loaded! Amazing machines. Especially with maxed out specs, I wish MacBooks were still modular. But I am pretty impressed with their recent laptops! They're really going back in time and adding MagSafe ect, but they're really pricey. So much cheaper to go back and pick up 2012 unibody MacBooks! Glad you like them!

I purchased this recently for $120. I upgraded to a 1TB SSD, the RAM to 16GB & updated the OS to Ventura using the Open Core Legacy Patcher. It's really, really useful. I use it as a secondary device. Because I'm not a video editor or creator, this does everything I need

Best computer I ever owned, sadly got rid of it for a much more powerful 2020 Macbook Pro with the M1 Processor. Still I had the 2012 13inch for several years and it was a great computer. However I needed something more modern to run my programs and much longer battery life. All in all still was a great computer.

Oh ya! Fantastic laptop! M1 is amazing and on top of all of it, it looks like the new m1 pro and max laptops basically took these unibody machines and modernized them, so I can safely say it's a great idea to get an m1 or the new MacBook pros! Apple has been killing it recently!

I own the macbook pro mid 2012 (non retina display model). I had purchased this beauty in 2015 when there was a stock clearance sale. Bought it for Rs.50k (approx. 600 USD). In 2021 i upgraded the laptop by adding another 4gb ram to make it 8gb ram in total. originally it came with 4gb ram and in this model i think the ram is extendable to 16gb ram. Also i got a 256gb ssd installed by removing the cd-rom to make some room. so the laptop now has a 256gb ssd and the original 500gb hdd as well. the machine boots on the ssd and now it works lightning fast. if everything works fine then it definitely makes sense to hold on to this machine and continue using it.

I ordered the new M1 iMac to replace my ageing 2011 iMac. But I will never get rid of my 2012 13" Macbook Pro, one of the last two (the other being that 15" one) user configurable laptops made by Apple. Upgraded with SSD and 16GB RAM it still works like a breeze and is still able to process 'heavy' PSDs, TIFs and other files.

I would say so! It's a dream to type on, and it's a good platform to jump off as well. I'm not a coder, but, I would assume it's good to do anything on! If you want more power. I would go for the dedicated video card in the 15' MacBook! :)

Nice!! Definitely! Always repair and upgrade your machines as much as you can. Unless you really really need the power of the new pros. They're pretty pricey, but I think you'll notice a crazy difference with an SSD in these older machines. They are still very powerful. Even upgrade the Ram if need be! :)

I had my original battery since i purchased mine in 2012 new. I just replaced the battery 2 months ago in 2021, because it was so hot and draining fast. I paid $4000 for this machine and all the adobe cs5, cs6, final cut pro x, mac office 2011. I upgraded to 16 gigs and 1 terabyte ssd. I'm not ever getting rid of my Mac-book Pro late 2011. It out lasted all my phones and desktop computes and laptops. It does what I need it to do and it will have to completely die first. i will not ever buy another apple product.

If you'd like something a bit more powerful, opt for the 2012 15'! It runs up to Catalina. Or if you want to run the latest Monterey OS. Opt for 2015 15'! You can still upgrade the ssd in that one. But you can't upgrade anything else. But if you find a high spec one, it'll last you!
