My personal favorite is actually also the lightest machine gun of all time. It's a shame the NFA regulates them because I hear they're super fun to shoot. I'm talking, of course, about the tried-and-true shoelace tied into a knot. The only machinegun to clock in at under a single ounce. Truly a marvel of engineering.

I remember when we swapped out 240Bs for 240Ls, and that was a major upgrade in terms of weight. I’ve been in the Army 16 years as both Infantry and FA, and this video is probably one of the better breakdowns of MG theory I’ve seen. Great work! I’m always looking for good KZitem videos to add value to training, so this is fantastic. This is the first video of yours I’ve seen and you definitely earned a “like” and a subscribe.

favorite machine gun is the mp5 for sure. I remember replacing a lot of feed pawl springs for both the 249 and 240 when I was in, easy but interesting how they kept getting lost or breaking when the teams would use them. never got to shoot either but would've love to. still got some time in the IRR so who knows lol

I was reading a book of a German machine gunner on the Eastern Front and He mentioned to have your gun barrel no more than the width of a hand above the dirt so you don't get smoked. He also said to have two pits, one on either side of the gun. These are for individual sleeping locations but also if a grenade gets chucked in you kick it to one side or there other. Steel case for long range and brass for up close, Steel had more malfunctions.

Dont know anything about, or how to start a Patreaon but im going to for Trench. I dont always agree with everything and my favorite channels are GT and 1911 Syndicate just for the production and entertainment but nobody is cranking out actual, detailed, basics from the actual source like Trench. He's hanging it there for us and US in multiple ways. Everyone should understand the gravity of what hes doing and the risk. If you havent done this stuff professionally, or like me, not for decades, you should be taking notes or backing these videos up some way because there are multiple ways that they could be gone. If youve got the spare 5 bucks a month, throw down because he really deserves it for what hes doing.

Sadly, there aren't enough 240s out there, though there are probably quite a few 1919s out there.😜 The PPSH 41 and PPS 43 are both fantastic smgs, the 41 with a well running drum can be quite the cqb weapon, and 43 kits are VERY cheap right now. I will ALWAYS love the Ma Duce, as long as I don't have to pay for the ammo, though I do have a special place in my heart for a FN FAL with a 30 rd mag and a Halbeck device!

The only real divergence I’ve seen, is our MG teams immediately set the gun. It was part of the bounding drill for us. AG sets tripod, rolls away from the tripod, fires or pulls security. Gunner bounds forward until he lands with the 240 beside the tripod on the AG side, in a position that is perpindicular to the pintle hole in the tripod, with the feed side pointed at the dirt. This helps kick the starter belt off the top of the MG. He then twists the gun 90 degrees locking the gun into the tripod, with the AG owning the Pintle after he ensures the gun is locked. So I don’t personally see the point of the fire command system for setting in the tripod. We were always taught to get the tripod down if you can. I know you’re full by the book right now though. And I will add the caveat that we were a unit that came from not having weapon squads to having weapon squads and our gun teams were more autonomous still and running off the system that the PL or PSG was gonna control us so we had better be in the best position. I LOVE the AG owning the PEQ. We never thought to do that. Just the benefits from having the ROE don’t fire until I hit that laser.
