Love this series! Just watched them all today. Hopefully you do second place or interesting decks from years past.

Early versions of that deck were built around a card named Void that has a robot with a gigantic head in its art. There´s where the name comes from. Urza's rage has the same character on it

Crypt Angel is one of my top favorite MTG cards of all time. There was a guy I played with back in the day when Invasion came out. He had a foil Crypt Angel and I wanted it badly. I traded four 6th edition birds of paradise for it. I still have the crypt angel till this day.

Sweet deck. Imo Flametongue Kavu is still kinda nice, but I do love some value shenanigans like flickering and reanimating lol

Yeah, and it's actually kind of similar to Glorybringer in the current standard environment. Lots of similarities between the current Rakdos deck and Machine Head! :)

I don't remember what I played during standard, I vaguely remember this deck, but I don't think it stuck around for very long.

Steepling my fingers and awaiting the overwhelming majority of Invasion block picks in this Standard deck, over Masques block … Witnesses one Masques spell in the main deck, plus Rishadan Port. Are you playing W/B? Because this was awfully vindicating.

I'm looking to make a deck like this in pauper, (all commons) any ideas?

I don't know if it's exactly the same, but I did a deck tech/gameplay series with a Rakdos midrange-y control deck that's sort of similar to this. Here's the decklist: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/17-01-18-rakdos-control/

More sure it would have been named after the Deep Purple album, not the metal band named after the Deep Purple album.

That's certainly possible as well, but Deep Purple's album was released in the 70's, and Machine Head's most successful album was released in 1999, which is when they started achieving mainstream success, so the timing certainly lines up better with Machine-Head-The-Band. Either way, it's relatively unimportant. *shrug*

At the time, if you get to 12 mana playing against a control deck, chances are your kicked Urza's Rage will be met with a Misdirection, or at least 3 Absorbs. Ah, the days...

I definitely ran mine a little different. More instant red damage in mine.
