wow!! My hometown!! You've filmed a lot of streets that I have ridden my bike on! Brought back memories, good memories when Macon was alive and vibrant. The elderly sitting on their front porches, sending us young ones to the store to get things for them! Macon has quite a few hill type roads that felt so good riding down with the wind in my face. Yes, I remember when the homes weren't so dilapidated and not luxurious either but it was well kept and someone's home! Macon for me is more than the hood! Those streets you were filming were the very streets I used to ride with my father (Steve Peek) on the weekends. My hand and face partially out the window passing his friends house as he yelled out the window (HEY CHUMPS..with a smile) to the them as they sat around the table in the yard playing cards! Man!! This is why I left Macon. Because these very streets (hoods) you're exposing. I left because so many memories of me riding with my father for years on these streets was pretty painful. But seeing them tonight, made me smile..unlike most who MAY NOT see any positives in this video. I saw what it was and what it potentially can be..WAIT..LET ME REPHRASE THAT..WHAT IT WILL BECOME! ALL THINGS ARE TEMPORARY!! RIP DADDY! BEST DAD IN THE WORLD!

Wow! I grew up on the Eastside on Fairview Ave (Fort Hill) in the early 80s. Im 45 yrs now. My house was where the white van was parked at the 3:00 mark on the right. This was a VERY nice clean neighborhood back then. All of the homes were lived in, there were barely any blighted houses or vacant lots. And the streets were full of life. This neighborhood, even the projects (Davis Homes) nearby were well-kept and vibrant as well. Its heartbreaking to see my childhood stomping grounds in such bad shape. I ride thru every now and then and reminisce of the good old days playing in the streets, riding my bike, walking to the corner store on Main St. to buy penny candy, going to the baseball park down the street and jumping on slow moving cargo trains with my friends to the Indian Mounds and walking a half mile back home. It makes me sad seeing how it is now. There's maybe a handful of houses left that are habitable. This is commissioner Elaine Lucas' district. Her husband, David Lucas is a Ga State senator. They actually live on the Eastside and have for many years. Do they have a moral conscience? How can anyone ignore the immediate needs of their own community ? Yet, our so called "city leaders" sit on their handsl watching the Eastside and other parts of town greatly deteriorate for years! There were sum bad areas back then, but not this damn bad! It doesn't have to be this way. Citizens of Macon, pls make your voices heard. Our city commissioners work for us! Whether you're rich or poor, require more from them. Investing money only on the Northside where people are privileged and have a larger income wont cut it. The only new things the the East, West, and Southside get are fast food restaurants and liquor stores. These appointed councilmen should be ashamed to see people struggle and live in such dispair...shameful!

4:06 that was my Grandparents house. They use to have a cows a chicken coop, a large garden , pecan and pomegranate trees in the back yard. Time truly makes a difference, but I’ve always felt safe there. House to the right was actually a store, but it was closed by the time I could remember.

Y'all watch videos on KZitem where someone only drives through certain areas and make some wild generalizations. Downtown (Cherry St, Poplar, etc) and the Northside (Riverside, Bass Rd, Zebulon Rd) have plenty restaurants, bars, lounges, shopping, etc). Even on the West, East, and South sides...the closer you get to the county lines they have nice neighborhoods.
