I’m off of work today because of the weather and I decided to learn macrame on my day off. Once I found your channel I feel like the real learning began! I see I’m repeating what everyone else says when I tell you this, but your tutorials really are easy to follow and understand. You are seriously an amazing teacher and I feel like I’ve learned a lot! I’m also having flashbacks to my short time spent as a deckhand on an old sailing ship when I was learning about how to secure the ropes haha.

This is a wonderful video! Thank you! How did you finish the ends on the leaf knot so that they came to a nice point?

I believe she said bring it tighter toward the end, then either dab a bit of glue, or sew the ends. I would want to melt the ends, but that would leave a dark spot.

Great instructions, really clear thank you! I see you have used 5mm cord so please can you advise approximately how much yarn is needed for each knot? Also, I’m using 8mm so would I be correct to assume I would increase my allowances accordingly? Thanks in anticipation
@majestic.macrame

In the video I used 3mm. To measure how much cord each knot uses, you can measure the length of your cord BEFORE you tie a knot and then measure again AFTER you tie a knot. The difference in length is how much cord one knot uses. If you are going to tie 10 rows of knots, then you would multiply that value by 10 to calculate how much cord length required for the knots. If you are going to leave gaps between each row of knots then you will need to include this in the calculation of how much length you need.

can you also make a square knot for the end
@majestic.macrame
Жыл бұрын
Yes you can, just make sure it's very tight so it won't come loose. You can also brush out the ends to make a fringe if you use single ply / 2 ply / 3 ply cord (you can't brush out braided cord).

I used 5mm braided cord in this tutorial. Braided cord cannot be brushed out though. If you want to brush out the ends then use single ply or 3 ply.
