An important lesson I learned from this movie is how action is definitely better when it's practical. No I'm not saying when the effects are practical. I'm saying when the action actually serves a purpose and isn't happening just to be cool. In a lot of these blockbusters we see random buildings get destroyed just for the sake of it. Everything in every action scene in this movie served some kind of function. The vehicles had crazy designs but those designs were done to accomplish certain goals. Those spiked vehicles were used very effectively and those ones with the poles sticking out came into play in a way that made total sense. So much thought was put into these designs and the action choreography. Nothing was wasted or pointless. Even the flamethrowing guitar was logical!

I think Tom Hardy's perfomance as Mad Max is perfect. I haven't seen the previous movies but the fact that he at first delivers almost no lines or just mumbles and at the end he speaks clearly is what made the film so amazing for me. His perfomance showed that at first he didn't really trusted Furiosa or anyone else but at the end the bond between the characters were good enough so that Mad Max decided get rid of his selfisolation because he trusts them.

My biggest pet peeve about this movie was how Max just nodded and grunted through the first half of the movie. I get the character doesn't talk much but some actual lines worked much better, which is how it was in the second half of the movie. I thought it was a great ride and it can stand alone without needing to continue the original trilogy. But I also enjoyed the nods and references to the original movies like the thunderdome, wind up musical toy, original Mad Max car and his jacket. I was hoping this movie would be amazing and it lived up to my expectations but it's not the movie of the year as some are labeling it.

I agree with you on everything. Tom Hardy was my only issue with the movie. I heard the Bane voice as well for a brief moment, but I'd like to point out that Hardy did a good job, I just don't think he was given enough lines to really flesh out his take on Max. But overall, an awesome movie. Thanks for the vid man.

Dude you have the same view as me on Tom Hardy in this movie. It felt like he was playing Tom Hardy at times more than he was playing Mad Max. That one grunt at the end during the blood transfer scene reminded me of all of his dialogue in Lawless and I was like man, dont do that for Max, he's not that kinda guy. Anyway, I still thought he was awesome in it and the movie was amazing.

A slow to get on the mad max train but watched it a few days ago and boy, was it amazing. The post apocalyptic world was so macabre, bizarre and simple crazy/insane and visually STUNNING. The vision George Miller had for this world was so well executed by costuming and makeup. So exciting to watch. Just wish they dove into that world more and explained a few things. Also, didn't help that I was clueless as to what was happening and WHY for a good third of the beginning of the movie. But I was distracted by how the movie looked. It was like, look at this! Now this! Bang!- look at that!!! It was crazy exhausting. The Aussie actors were a bit....eh, not a fan cos I know who they are. Too many moments of "oh, him. Didn't know he was in it". "Hey, isn't it that guy from xyz?". The cars were fantastic. So Aussie! Hahhaha. Oh and, tom hardy, too much mumbling. But he was ok. Didn't know much about max and furiosa was the main character and max happened to be along for the ride. Hahahha. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. I love your channel, john!!! I should probably comment more but some dudes in here are harsh! Xxx

Why can't this be classified as a reboot? From everything I've heard you don't need to see the others movies to know what's going on in this one and there's apparently no connections to the previous movies either, other than the name Mad Max which is played by a different actor. So why not just call it a reboot? Although, I guess you could say it's more of a James Bond sequel? Different actor in the lead, not really a continuation of the previous Bond films but still connected to the franchise. So I guess every decade or so they could get a new Mad Max to continue the ongoing adventures? I don't know. Anyway, definitely looking forward to seeing it. Can't wait!

Did the director clarify if it's indeed the same (Mad) Max as portrayed by Mel? Or could it be the Feral Kid 30 years later adopting the name of Max and thus continuing the cycle of Mad Max(es).

After watching the latest Mission Impossible movie I still thinks that this movie is the best action movie of the year! You had about 4 times to catch you breath and get ready for the next action bombshell!

I haven't seen mad max yet. But I'm assuming it's like 300 minus the wife scenes or book of eli minus the ending? Or fast and furious minus talking?

My only problem with the movie is the fact that people say Furiosa is the main character. She may be the reason the movie happens, but that does not mean that she is the star or main character

I'm really looking forward to seeing this film. It looks epic, and it scored 98% on rotten Tomatoes! That's insane! That's up there with the likes of The Godfather, Citizen Kane, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Apocalypse Now, etc. I just hope it lives up to the hype! Up until now my favourite of the Mad Max films has always been the original, with the motorbike gang, The Acolytes, run by Toecutter and Bubba Zanetti. But will it stay my favourite I wonder?

Best movie of the year (and I don't think any movie will top this one, even star wars). The cinematography is just insane, actors are great and the story is quite simple yet pretty deep and packed with mythological references.

Catching the last matinee today. That'll my 3rd time. Eff yeah baby! And yes you could be a Mad Max villain with those lats - sheesh dude eat a donut or something. No seriously there are a lot of commonalities like the hulking villains in masks (Erectus had a subtle rubber mask as well - very creepy.) I also agree re: Hardy - he was great but Mel is to Max what Christopher Reeves was to Superman or what Sean Connery is to Bond; it's gonna take something really special to dethrone them. They ARE those characters. About the Bane thing, I caught that too but remember Bane sounds like Tom Hardy (it's not just a voice Tom Hardy does) so we might have that somewhat inverted.
