That was tried, BUT, Mad Nad kept pushing them out of the car. She thinks that anyone placed with her, as guard, carer, or nurse, is assigned to assassinate her, And she isn't paranoid, she is truly scared that she will be "disappeared" because she is a loose cannon, a bit like Julian Assange.

The constitutional rules around who can or can’t be PM are pretty vague as far as I can see and are largely guidelines. The Conservative Party constitution says that the leader of the party "shall be drawn from those elected to Parliament" which would rule out Cameron, but they can just change their own rules to suit themselves. It’s not like they’ve never ignored or broken a rule before. So the idea that there’s some Machiavellian plot to checkmate the party into giving Cameron the title is a bit far fetched. They’d be equally likely to just implode in a flurry of defections and backstabbing if Sunak resigns.

Is there another country in Europe as ripe for a revolution as the UK? No, I don't think there is. So much needs to change with the UK - where do you even start?? It's now become 'chronically' dysfunctional. And no this is neither endearing or funny. It's extremely sad, how far the UK has fallen over the last eight years. The utter state of this country is mind blowing in its awfulness.
@Turnipstalk

The constitutional rule is extremely simple and has no regard to political parties or their machinations. The First Lord of the Treasury is PM if he can command a majority in the Commons. That's it. At this point it would make a lot of sense to dissolve all political parties by law and start again.

@@Turnipstalk ..the Electoral system in the UK needs total reform. And this means bringing in Proportional Representation (P.R) to replace the current First Past the Post (FPTP) system we have. The FPTP system results in us repeatedly having governments the majority of people DIDN'T vote for, and the very 'top down' nature of FPTP is wholly unsuitable for the way people live now, and how UK society is organised. It was a system devised in the early 19th century, FOR that century. It suited the times it was brought in - when only men, and wealthy men at that could vote. It excluded large sections of society back then. It's not flexible at all, and not compatible with greater transparency that we all want from our government, and electoral system now. The House of Lords also needs complete reform - with an end to 'hereditary' peers; and new rules brought in meaning that EVERYONE who gets into the upper house (H of L) is actually elected. They're not there through stint of birth, or because they paid someone £10,000 to get in there. Both of the above need to happen by 2030. We cannot go on for another 10, 20, 30 years the way we are at present. Not only is it not acceptable - it's actually not sustainable in the long term, because the rest of the world is changing so profoundly. I would also like to see a written constitution introduced aswell. This is not quite as important as changing our electoral system, and reforming the H of L; but it too is still very important.
@pete1942

@@Turnipstalk But given that parliament has been dissolved there are no MPs and so no majority for any party and yet Sunak is still PM. Which is why I said it’s vague, as while the basic principle is simple, there’s a lot of ‘fudging’ round the edges when things don’t quite line up to make sure everything carries on. There’s nothing that would ensure Cameron was or wasn’t chosen as leader and so the Dorries plot is just a bit of nonsense. And yes, it would be better all round if we could scrap the whole thing and start afresh with some proper rules that don’t rely on the decency of some of the least decent people around.
@robtyman4281

@@Turnipstalk I will add to my previous comment, that if introducing PR, means that we just end up with coalitions - then so be it. I think I can live with this. If it means returning the UK to some semblance of normality, and a better level of democracy then it may be the only way, in future. And I am very much all for a more democratic, and better run UK.

TBH, if the Tories wanted to replace Sunak at no notice, Cameron is one of the few options they would have to take over. Nonetheless, that's not part of their plan, it would be more of a "hail mary" attempt at gluing enough pieces of the broken Tory Party together to stop your parents from realising that you had had a mad party to dance on your grandfather's grave before running off with everybody's inheritance, not a plan to put the family business back on a solid footing. Sorry if I sound a bit tiddly, it's how I cope with Tory rule.

If you were really a serious planner/plotter, why would you even let someone as unhinged as Mad Nad even know you existed, never mind including her. Her idea of keeping quiet is to stand in public bellowing into a megaphone. Care in the community obvious hasn’t worked, she needs to be taken to somewhere nice and peaceful, out of the public gaze, where, with extensive therapy, she can perhaps be drawn back from her private universe and reconnected to the real world.
