I had one of these fall against my face while trying to move it. Don’t let this happen to you! 😆

Great video! I have 7 of them, and I have one that was grown sideways, almost like you had. If mine wasn't as big, I would cut the plant so that it can re-root itself standing straight up. Its easier to do when they're tiny like that. It's really cool to see a full grown one, a member of my Madagascar Facebook group shared a picture of a big one with multiple branches. My biggest rule when re-potting these guys: if it falls, let it fall. lol

Fun fact: 90% of photosynthesis occurs in the trunk of the Madagascar palm

Ha! It is one weird looking plant, I grant you. As far as care goes, just remember, easy does it with the water and full sun for the best growth. They are succulents, which really just want to be LEFT ALONE! Super easy to grow for even the inexperienced home gardener. I have a small one (4") from an Internet source and have had it for about a month now. Good luck with yours.

Thank you for a great video. I have two palms. One is about 7" (inches) tall and the other about a foot tall. In both cases (they are in two well-planted pots) the top three to four inches of the palm turned dark green, nearly black. Are they dead? Thanks again.

Sorry for my delayed response I was out of the country. Sadly without actually seeing them I can't tell for sure but I would make sure not to over water. When they really start to go down hill is when the truck becomes soft.

If you want a more natural shape, use a rich soil, and more water.

Lucas Key...Why don't you give those little ones a decent clay pot that's the right size for them? That tiny plastic pot is terrible.

The day this was filmed I was re-potting them into bigger pots. :D I was working at a nursery at the time. I'm teaching again now so I wasn't able to continue making videos.

These plants belong in a shelter for abandoned and abused pachepodiums. If I lived in your area, I would sneak into your garden and rescue them. What a shame😪

This was a while ago. I don't know if they're still there lol. Go buy them up from Florida Cactus Inc.
