I remember Madame Web from the Spider-Man animated TV show, and she was a blind old lady in a chair who gave sage advice from time to time. And I had the thought that this character should get her own spinoff movie exactly… zero times. She’s better as a supporting character rather than as a lead. As for this… unless Dakota Johnson ends the movie as a blind old lady in a chair, you might as well call this MWINO.

I'm willing to bet that the early 2000's setting is less about revisiting that point in history and more about eliminating smartphone plot holes that would occur in a modern setting for however the story will play out. I also bet that watching the film to see if that's the case will be a far better reason than seeing it for its entertainment value. Also, not only do their costumes look bad, but their street clothes don't really look right, either. @StefunnyStrange
10 ай бұрын
@@nerychristian it’s actually a lot more nuanced than you make it out to be. For one, a script can sound fine on paper and then be executed terribly. Also, there are different directors and studios who until recently had credibility. It’s a Marvel movie. That was typically a great thing for an actor up until about a year ago. It is bad luck because this is a time when no one is giving super hero movies a try unless there is credibility like with Guardians of the Galaxy 3 being directed by James Gunn. Also, on paper, that movie did not sound like a winner. I could give a lot more examples but it’s not as simple as reading a script. If it was that easy, what would they need agents for? That job is actually really hard which is why many are paid millions to not only present actors with opportunities made through their connections but making sure the role fits and is amazing. That’s not how it always goes… because like I said, it’s not easy and something you can really blame actors for unless we know of several good-paying projects with perfect roles that they passed on. Actors have been criticized in the past for taking the highest paying role and selling out by not taking the better roles but that’s because the quality was actually good back then pretty much across the board.

Is the Super Hero genre dying or being murdered? I think in story telling "The hero's journey" and or "flawed hero" will always resonate with people. Whether it be comics or manga. I think the expense of charector development and plot is the cause for a lot of these movie flops. Especially if it doesnt pay respect to the source material.

Ezekiel and some of the Spiderwomen are from the comic. And Sony is trying to make their own Spiderverse, with Venom, Morbius, and Kraven...plus this. So, I guess, kudos for trying. It is an odd take on someone who was a side character in Spiderman to make her a young, out in the field hero, rather than a "sit on the throne and give advice" character. My major concern is that superhero origin movies follow a formula, and this will probably just follow the same one. Otherwise, good to bring in more leading female superheroes.

I'm not watching it. This trend of modern feminists imbuing every show/movie with toxic femininity has become a problem for us fantasy/sci- fans. And what makes it so much worse is that if we comment about it we're called misogynists. This needs to stop. It's also so extremely hypocritical and devious of them. They have become the very thing they hated in men. The stories used to have great women and men as characters, not this all-woman casting and repeating theme of demeaning men that we've seen for years now. Equality would equally represent male and female, not one or the other. This trend is creating more cultural problems than helping. Hollywood needs to stop lazily shoving their political crap into their productions, because it breaks all emersion and is creating more division and culture wars. Also, good writers with skill and care can put a parable that's uplifting for the world into a story that still have a great plot, world building, and character development. This is just fan fiction surface level writing that uses virtue signaling as a shield so people can't critique it when it's not good.
