I like how the principle responded to Maddy. He didn't get mad at her, but was also holding her accountable. Acknowledging her fear and desire to control the situation, but also affirming his position as principle and what he needs to do.

@chindiejade2769

Literally it was so rushedd, The whole point of the scene describes her injuries and how her weekend went, they just cut straight to a Nate interrogation scene instead of showing maybe a short montage of her health at least getting better in the episode

Thats cuz we saw it from her perspective, once she went unconcious she was only able to regain conciousness once she got better hence why we only saw it once she got better. Also their's a limited amount of screentime is it really that neccessary for us to see Maddy wake up concious in a bed and be reported to the principlas office.

Both Maddy have long-spanning, internalized daddy issues. Nate both exemplifies traits they wanted in their fathers that their fathers didn’t possess, and on the other hand abuses/manipulates/neglects them in ways that are familiar and “safe” for them.

I know that creep,, Sam Levinson tries to portray everyone who helps Maddy here as "a bad guy who just doesn't get it," but don't let that twisted little freak show convince you that this is normal or healthy. If someone does this to you, TELL SOMEONE YOU TRUST. This isn't love, Nate is disgusting, and this show is god awful.

@onlycows726

@stirlingarcher7972

As a member of a family with generations of abuse, it was accurately portrayed. They weren’t portraying it as a positive, just showing how the abused person sees it. The abused person often feels like the people telling them to leave the abusive relationship are the bad people and ‘they just don’t understand our love’ and ‘I can save him/her”. It’s a mental illness, staying with someone like that programs your brain. Why do you think a domestic abuse survivor often winds up in another abusive relationship? Because their brain has been wired to receive abuse, than abuse=love. That’s why it’s so hard for them to leave their abuser and stay gone. You have to basically be deprogrammed like someone who leaves a cult.

there are parts that hit REALLY hard (nate's abuse in s1 and all of rue's interractions with her family) but there's also a lot of oversexualising teens (to the point where one character starts doing sex work, the girl in this clip who's defensive about being a dominatrix basically is, and another sleeps with an adult who secretly records it) and in s2 just dramatic and unrealistic high school stuff. personally i'd recommend just watching rue's scenes if you're uncomfortable with the sexualisation
