Your hair has changed so much since you started the CG method- I’m only 4 months in but even my boyfriend has said my hair is so different- so curly, so healthy, so much lower maintenance. I love your channel & how you like to keep everything simple & to the point. It keeps me motivated to keep going cause the CG method is SO worth the results.

I love that lipstick on you, and I love following you...I hope you do even more reviews because you are real, cute and beautifully human! I have used Madison Reed and I liked the dimensional color , the reasonable price, and the tools they send. I'm a Curly Girl now because of you and using natural henna with amla.

Your hair is gorgeous! I've used Madison Reed once so far but I'm in the blonde and fine straight hair. I loved the light smell and it made my over processed hair in better shape. I love that there was no burning, and I can't be bothered with the gloves or skin protector or wipes, because they are not necessary. I then went back to s hair dye that is in the non toxic line because it costs almost 1/2 the price of Madison Reed. Bad idea, cause my scalp was tingling and burning and caused damage. Well I learned a lesson.. .Only use Madison Reed or nothing. The only reason I am seeing your video is because I've been watching other Madison Reed videos looking for videos that show different blondes because they gave a kazillion colors, and I wanted to try a different one than I already used. It seems there are way more people doing brunette colors, but I'll keep watching. Thanks again!

Thanks for this review. I already use Madison Reed & love it. However I am just starting the CG method (day 2) and one concern I had was wondering if I had to stop using MR now that I'm doing CG, so I'm glad to see it didn't harm your curls.

I also use Madison-Reed hair color and have the same experience of my hair looking darker right after coloring, but then it lightens up. I love Madison read and it’s only $25 instead of paying my stylist $75! I also like the fact that it’s gentler on my hair. BTW, your hair looks beautiful pre-color as well!

Hi Leticia! I regret not talking about this in this video because I’ve mentioned it in other videos. I ALWAYS assume that colour has silicone in it (most does) especially when I go to a salon. I just don’t use conditioner with silicone in it. After & a day or two I do a good wash with a shampoo that contains sulphate! But I’m glad you gals noticed because maybe more people will read these comments. Maybe I’ll mention it in the description box.

The other day I bought a hair color from the brand Naturigin (this hair color is also pretty natural and can be found at The Vitamin Shoppe). As far as I can tell, this hair color doesn't contain silicone. I haven't tried it yet, so I cannot say if it works or if it doesn't. I'll report soon how it goes.

Yay! I'm so happy to hear that you want to go Cruelty Free! 😁😁 As soon as I saw you were reviewing this I went to check on their CF status, and I'm so excited that they're Leaping Bunny certified. I'm only 29 and have A TON of gray hair. I'm letting it go for now, but I have a feeling that once it starts really taking over the natural black of my hair I'm going to want to dye it. Finding cruelty free and curly girl approved products is rough, though. There's no real rules as to what companies are allowed to put on their labels.. so even though they may say something like "this product is not tested on animals," it may mean that the ingredients were. Or that they're CF in north America, but they sell their products in places like China where animal testing on cosmetics is required by law, making them not cruelty free. 🙄 So resources like Leaping Bunny and Logical Harmony are great for cross-referencing CF and CG. But I've found a few that I like.. Alaffia, Giovanni, Broo, Pacificia, Alba... (I have a pinterest board of CG and CF products.. and I'm finding more than I expected to find! :) ) OH And your hair looks amazing, by the way! I'm definitely going to keep this brand in mind for when I decide to start regularly coloring my hair.

Hey Fernanda! I appreciate your comment because maybe this will help others who were wondering the same thing. I just put out a video ALL about hair colour and the curly girl Method. Pretty much all colour contains silicone & other non CG ingredients. I always do a wash with a sulphate shampoo after colouring at home or at the salon. To be honest, when I first shot this video I talked all about colouring your hair when following the CGM and about how I always do a sulphate wash, but then I decided to make 2 separate videos because it was Sooooo long.
@CurlySusie
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Renee! It is quite possible, I always assume that hair colour has silicone in it. & always do a sulphate wash a few days after. Even if I get my hair professionally coloured. I mention this in other videos! I actually did say that again in this video & edited it out because it was almost 1/2 hr long haha Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for this handy bit of information. I get my hair colored professionally (in fact I'm having it done today) and I didn't realize that silicones were involved. I'll just have my stylist wash it afterward with her sulphate-loaded shampoo rather than bringing my suphate-free products like I usually do.

Here's the thing. Since Madison Reed is better about the chemicals they use, the smell isn't going to be perfect.odt box dyes either will take your breath from the smell, or smells great. It's truly not designed to "smell". It's designed to color. Adding fragrance will modify the chemical composition of the color, resulting in a potential loss of potency😁

This product is weak for covering grays and way overpriced. Sally has Color Brilliance by Ion for $5.99 per application. It's PPD free and just like this product for a fraction of the price. You simply mix a tube of the color Brilliance it 1:1 with a 20-volume developer and apply for 30-45 minutes. Beautiful and inexpensive!
