Cast your mind back to this time in 1982 when 'Complete Madness' was released. This was the original TV ad, featuring the voice of George Cole! Stream the album madnessband.ln...
Wow guys - never saw this ad lol. Bought the LP though…I’m 50 now and still thinks it’s one of the best ‘best of’ albums ever. Whenever I hear ‘It Must Be Love’ on the radio, I can still hear the cracks, pops, etc, that accompanied vinyl 👍🏻 thanks to the Mad 7 ❤️

I don't think that they could pick anyone better than George Cole for the ad, I think that Madness inhabited the same world as Arthur Daly - peas in a pod!

I remember trying to record this advert on my new Rediffusion rented VHS video recorder. Every commercial break in every programme. Finger hovering over the paused record button sitting on the floor next to the TV. Waiting to release the pause and add these precious seconds to the E180 i was slowly filling with TV appearances and what nut! Yes I got it!!!! 🤣

Arthur probably had some boxes of the albums fall off the back of a lorry at the time and so he got Terry to take them to his lock up for him. Either that or he had Dave hide them behind the bar, so 'Cheerful Charlie' Chisholm's blue peepers couldn't spot them. 'Ohh maoy gud gawd!'

@stephenalanmoore7278

What record? It's 'Complete Madness' by British ska legends Madness. This LP is their first greatest hits collection that was originally released in 1982. That's the late, great 'Minder' star George Cole (1925-2015) doing the voiceover for this advert.
