Gary is bang on re: a review system. The other benefit of it is that it will take some of the pressure off officials in terms of being harangued on the pitch by players and coaches - if they think the decisions wrong they can appeal it. If its the captains going for the review it adds in player agency into VAR as well which would be good

How can everyone see it’s clearly not a red but the officials who are supposedly trained can’t…Honestly ridiculous and it’s match fixing at this point. This whole thing about going easy on the refs is bs when they can potentially cost managers their jobs meanwhile they get handed another big fixture with no repercussions.

This is gonna sound premature, but we've seen the best of Mbappe. He's nowhere near the player he was around 2018-2022. I know he's playing centrally, but even when he working off the left, he's nowhere near as lightning as he was, nowhere near as menacing, or destroying defences single handedly. He seems to have bulked up a lot as well. The individual brilliance, and match winning moments haven't been there for a while, he doesn't look anywhere near as sharp.

I'm a neutral as far as LaLiga goes and I'd say he shined more brightly at Monaco and PSG cause he was one of the few actually special players there. Haaland & Mbappe were billed as the next Gen, the next Ronaldo vs Messi, and I always said Haaland would go on to score more, to achieve more, to remain at a higher level for longer, cos his game doesn’t rely on pace. The VAR appeal debate. If they were to integrate appeals it would slow the game down. What they should do is employee an official to pause and restart the match and eliminate time-wasting and the need for additional time to be added. Also meaning officials can focus more on the big decisions and less on booking someone for time-wasting, which ultimately is a waste of time because players will do it and take a booking anyway later on in a match

I’ve not seen one referee go to the season this season. Forget the high / low bar. Is it a foul. Is it a yellow or a red. I still think football is better without VAR. At least with Gary’s appeal suggestion the VAR can focus only on the incidents when there is an appeal. I think VAR in its current state are looking at so much every second of the game they can’t focus on the big calls which was what VAR was introduced for in the first place!

I get what Gary is saying about the appeal system but I dunno if making more changes would be a good thing. Sometimes the Devil you know. They should be lookin to improve the training of VAR and keep it consistent. That shouldn't have been a red for Bruno but if a similar challenge happens in a different game and it isn't given then that's where fans frustration comes from. They should look at the foreign refs in the CL, Euros etc. to see how a ref can allow a game to happen without the need to do something controversial so that they can get an invite to a podcast/panel and make some change off a decision from 10 years ago. Dermot Gallagher never disagrees with the ref decisions. They're a group of friends who look out for each other and not the players/fans/clubs.
