Maleeva was an indoor expert. She had so much success in the halls.

Yes, and in fact the year after this she won in Birmingham, so she has won tournaments on every surface: grass, clay, hardcourt, and indoor.

Aah, Magdalena Maleeva. The Maleeva sister I remember watching when I was younger. Amazing to think 3 siblings from the same family all made the top 10 at one point in their career. We have had succesful sisters and brothers pairings, but I can't recall 3 of them.

From my town in Ridgewood, NJ, we had the O'Reilly triplets who were very successful juniors. They were the same year - I think - as Grace Kim, another very good player from Ridgewood who tried playing the pros. The O'Reillys also tried turning professional but tragedy struck when one of them, one her way to a tournament if I am not mistaken, was in a car crash and died.

Fantastic match..great strategy from Maleeva..Lindsay on occasions used to play powerful as usual but without penetration, angles or spin so her strokes in such circumstances would perfectly sit up for players such as Maleeva who would use the pace and create angle themselves and consequently move Lindsay who would gradually end up tired and frustrated..

Yes we'll said. Most of the time her ground strokes off both wings were among if not the deepest most penetrating on tour but occasionally they weremt quite aa penetrating as was the case in this match. On most days she would have blasted Maleeva off the court, but Maleeva was lucky that Lindsey was a bit off in this match.

This is when women tennis was REALLY good. The rallies didn't look like a boxing game and (most of) the players were not screaming while playing!

Maggie was a beast on return here. Shame she never quite got back into the top 10 in the early 2000s.

She almost did! She was twice a match away in 2003!

Were there any other 3 sisters that got into top 10 of women tennis or Maleevi are exception?

Do you by any chance have the maleeva post match interview? Do you know whether she spoke it in Russian or English

No, I would normally include that if I had it. The feed cuts as she throws balls into the crowd. I really wanted to hear what she had to say too.

Why would she speak in Russian?

Useless trivia- no American woman has ever won the Kremlin Cup.

You can almost consider my channel first as a Dementieva fan channel and second a Davenport losing matches channel.

That is interesting since Lindsey was so good indoors you would think she would have snagged at least one
