So helpful; answered nagging questions about edit page-color page-Fusion(new Fusion clip) sequence; how to do a round trip back to Fusion then return to the color page. That is, how to get a color page mask (or other effect) back into Fusion for compositing or tweaking and then recommence the color page work: a round-trip! Great! Love it.

Great Bernd, as usual... I think you will agree with me and a whole bunch of users on the fact that BMD should directly put the Magic Mask in Fusion Studio, as long as the depth map, the surface tracker and a few more 😉Some still prefer Fusion Studio whenever the compositing is starting to be a bit more sophisticated, and the beginning of your video - combining tracks on the TL to find'em later in Fu would be obviously skipped.... But anyway, thank you and spend a great summer ;)

Bernd, have you thought about creating HOMEWORK for your viewers? That is, homework exercises to be done at home to demonstrate to oneself that techniques are, indeed, understood. This cements ideas by practical application. LEARN BY DOING. No more, "Great idea, Bernd. I'll apply that the next time I need it (if I can remember!). If I try to recite to myself the steps to do a certain technique, I usually embarrass myself: there are always critical details that I glossed over in the excitement of seeing a new method or technique. Details matter! Love your work, Bernd. Mike

Your videos are always great and detailed, thank you! I would love to see your detailed workflows with keeping higher resolution media in Fusion while working on a lower resolution timelines. Maybe a future video idea?
@VFXstudy
2 жыл бұрын
When you work directly on timeline clips in Fusion, then you always have the full resolution available in Fusion. It gets automatically downscaled by the timeline settings if the timeline resolution is lower. But you automatically work in source media resolution when working on clip level without explicitly creating a Fusion clip
@LumaUruguay
2 жыл бұрын
@@VFXstudy Thanks! It means we don´t have to work in a new timeline with the bigger resolution. Is this correct?
@VFXstudy

@@LumaUruguay Again, check the context. For Fusion alone, no if you work directly on the source media. If you work on Fusion FX, compound clips or in the color page, then you work oon timeline resolution.

Hey man , can you make a tutorial on how to make the bass distortion effect 3d tracked in fusion ? I've seen a lot of tutorials for after effects on how to do it but 0 for Davinci . I mean there is not a single tutorial on how to make an effect 3d tracked ( any kind of effect ) . They are all explaining how to track a title or an image or whatever but it's never an effect like the "ripples" one in fusion . Hope you understand what I mean and that you can explain how to do it , it would be awesome . Love your videos btw mate 🔥

Hi there...I love your tutorials so thank you for making amazing tutorials. I do have a question that I've been asking around but didn't get an answer. I have davinci resolve studio version and I use fusion quite often. I want to get fusion studio 18 but I'm not sure if I should. Is it worthit to get fusion 18 or fusion in resolve is good enough. Basically what more can I do with fusion studio that I cannot with fusion in resolve...any videos you can direct me to if it's too much to answer? I really appreciate it!

Can you do easy to follow tutorials ( Ideally for noobs ) on Removing Background, Blurring background, Replacing Background, Darkening or lightening background on Combat sports fighters? They tend to strike/move quick and basic magic mask will fail most of the time. It would be great if you could do tutorials magic masking on Boxers , Kick-boxers, Muay Thai fighters, MMA fighters, Lethwei fighters, Karate fighters, etc. At least in Slow motion footage if it's unachievable in real time. Thanks.

The magic mask like the other AI features is quite demanding for the GPU. It can use some of the newer RTX features or graphics features of the M1 series. But even then, don't expect realtime processing

Nice, I was wondering how I could get 'layers' into the fusion tab. But I stumble onto some problems. Most tutorials are always done with short clips. But I have some problems arising, because the file I'm editing is a large one. I'm actually trying to convert 2D movies to stereoscopic 3D, and just solely using the Depth Map didn't give satisfying results. So I can't cut up all the shots (currently trying to edit the movie "The Goonies"): - In the Colors tab, it's not easy to scrub through such large video, which makes selecting your frame a big hassle. - The Magic Mask works great, but... this also gives a set of problems: - From where you've drawn your strokes for the mask, the Forward/Backward tracking obviously keeps going forward and want to track the entire movie. So I have to manually stop it. But this is difficult, has it's not easy to stop it exactly at where a new shot comes in. Giving the problem that in the new shot, it tries to find the object to mask. So it picks something else. It's bothersome, but what it makes it a hassle, is that I don't seem to be able to get rid of the mask on the shots the object wasn't in. I have to then delete the entire mask I made on the Mask keyframe. Isn't there a way to set a timeframe to where it needs to track the Mask you made with de strokes? -What I also get with this masking. I also need to manually go backwards with tracking the Magic Mask. But if it misses some part, because the person went partially out of shot, it doesn't register a mask. So on those frames, I want to draw some strokes aswell. But when I then hit the tracking button for the missed frames, it just skips everything and jumps to the last frame which has a masked area. So how do you do this stuff with a long video? It's not really doable to cut an existing movie on all the cuts in the movie.

The proper way of transferring the magic mask to fusion will surely be useful at some point for me. Thanks a lot! 🙂👍 I do have a question about the polygon node: Is it possible to cut a polygon into pieces and end up with several polygons that fit perfectly together? I know I can use a big polygon and substract other polygons from that, but as soon as I substract more than one polygon it becomes messy. So I am hoping there is a way to split up a polygon. Like cutting it using scissors, with the cut following a polyline between a starting point and and ending point anywhere on the borders of the initial polygon. The result should be two separate polygon nodes that added together would be the same as the initial polygon. Rinse and repeat as often as needed to get as many pieces as needed. Any way to do this? I am pretty sure if you don't know one it ain't possible. 😁
@VFXstudy
2 жыл бұрын
Probably not exactly like you imagine. But you could copy&paste the node and then slelct some pints in both, delete in one and delete inverse selection in the other. Haven't tried yet amd its rather manual work but maybe something like that could work for your specific case?
@120spm

@@VFXstudy Hi, thanks for the answer. Yeah, I basically have a way of doing it that requires resizing and deleting points and adjusting the beziers. It's requires a lot of manual work and planning though, to retain the borders between two adjacent polygons, working with like 50 polygons within a single media_in. It would just be super elegant to be able to cut a polygon into two pieces along a polyline though. 🙂 Being able to cut up graphics to animate them isn't an unusual case I'd guess.

MediaIn - MagicMask - pEmitter - pRender. I'm masking a person, and it work, the background is gone, but at pRender the background is show up again (as particle). Do I did something wrong? Hello dear, I have a question, how can I play a video with effects smoothly in Fusion? My computer is good, an i7 10750H with a 4gb GTX1650TI graphics card and 16GB of RAM. In order to see the playback I have to go to the editing page and then wait for the render cache to be done there. I would like to know if the same render cache can be done but in Fusion without having to go to the editing page

Hey! I have a semi-unralated problem with Fusion but cant find a solution anywhere. When I place a PNG image onto a video in UHD timeline there is a lot of colored artifacts (dots) around an image. Looks like there is a problem with a transparent images or how davinci handles that. If color managament is set to WIDE GAMUT the artifacts are even more visible. Do you have any solutions? Thank you in advance i love your videos! :)

Not entirely sure how this one works in AE but maybe it's similar to the matte refinement parameters in the color page? And except for the AI stuff they are somewhat similar to the matte control tool.

Hello ! I want to ask you when I open the project to another pc but all media is offline. Why?(Fusion Studio)
@VFXstudy
Жыл бұрын
Media offline- as the red screen message is normally a resolve thing and means clips from the media pool need to berelinked to their respective files on the disk. In Fusion Studio we don't have such linking since the loader nodes use direct file paths- but those might need to change on a different machine. It's possible to work with path maps though...

This is insanely complicated and it appears to be complicated for no good reason. I’m sure we can cut all the stuff out in another program much easier. Maybe after effects?
@VFXstudy
2 жыл бұрын
Well it would instantly get easier if the magic mask got into Fusion. But doing a roundtrip through AE and bringing back multiple masks could also get tricky. And then you need to learn the tools over there for more advanced manipulations...
