Finally someone to help make sense of this for me. When I first saw the trailer and all the great comments I felt a massive disconnect. I just didn’t get it, I mean dead obvious what is going on right? Everyone including kids know how you make shadows. Now I realize this is a refined thing and has a lot of imagination and performance opportunity. I think you nailed it, this has to be interactive with the shadow like a ventriloquist to truly capture the spirit of it.

I love it. This is definitely where the future of magic is going. We all have a phone, so, why not use it for magic. Thanks David. Great review.

Great review! I got this when it came out and I managed to use it well within a day, I just stuck to the plain hand silhouette which I found easiest to get the proportions right. I’m not a experienced puppeteer or anything but I have had Rocky Raccoon for a few years and have mastered movement and timing. I only blast it out occasionally as a quick "hey look at this weird thing I can do with a shadow" sort of thing. It does absolutely freak people out. For me personally I won’t get my moneys worth out of this and I wish I had seen this review before I bought this. The reason being, that I just can’t commit to the practice this really takes to perform it convincingly. 😄

A superb review David ! You are 100% right about the practice issue. It is a fantastic effect but does require considerable effort to make it as smooth as the Ad copy. Most dealers in the UK fail to mention this except for Saturn Magic who did a video blog to explain the issues involved. If you want a quality effect practice is essential but it should mentioned. Well done !!

I have a doubt. There is a trick in video where the magician holds the shadow of a spectator's hand. Do they teach that in video and is it practical bcos if it is the way I am thinking of, different ppl's hand might look different..may with with watch or slim or thick like that. So is it possible to do that trick with anyone's hand?

So ironic enough when i was in germany many moons ago, i seen a very unique performance the experience is shared by a huge group because its a projector that overlays images on a surface the craziest part is the tech for this. They found a way to project black onto a surface so they ca really fool you with depth and i believe this is a compact version of this. And it probably requires him saying here film this and maybe a phone projects it idk. That would explain angles

No, it' not a review. It's like a promo ad for a product. Something you'll buy, get home and then realize "oh, this is really just okay and not great and I'm never going to use it or perform it". If this was a REAL review, he would test it and show how convincing the shadows are, how far you can be from the wall for the efefct to be convincing, what are the lighting condition requirements? How easy is it to switch between the 12 props? he doesn't show or test anything, he just talks for 11 minutes and does a promotion for the product he got for free. This isn't a review by any stretch of the imagination. It's promotion, nothing more. Making people aware of this product: 10 out of 10. Actual review? 3 out of 10.

I clicked on the video ONLY wanting to know what the gimmick is. What am I buying? Am I buying paper cut outs that I have to puppeteer? Is it something mechanical? Like, I don't have $80 to just buy it and find out I could have made it myself.

"This isn't like anything else." I got a similar 'Ghost in the camera' trick from Magic Geek so many years ago. I never enjoyed it for how it was. I have a very strong feeling that is the same type of gimmick, but way better made. Does he teach the appearances, or does he just say "Use your favorite rose appearance?"

I *REALLY* dislike this, it's totally obvious how it's done (I thought it may have just been me thinking like a magician, but I showed the trailer to a couple of mates who aren't magicians and both of them called out the method right away). It's fine as a piece of performance art, but no way is this magic.
