I agree, ive had the same conversation with a few people over the past days... A few saying it has not been banned... Non of which would name the the lakes where it hasnt been!!! The idea is based off a couple of simple rigs that were made with pole elastic to have a spring action... These are very safe and do not cause a risk to the fish if they get snagged... I like Ali but, I think this is definitely a no no!!! Do not let what YOU think is a great idea, bury a great company that you have started... Please accept that fisheries do NOT accept it!!

Brilliant. It performs exactly as I envisaged it would. A fish pulling into weed running from you, of course it will lie flat across the fishes flank with no prongs sticking out, and when the twig “ leads” pulling in front of the fish anything it brushes against will push the arms flat. It would be almost impossible, with the fishes head one side, for both prongs to latch onto a snag at the same time, and when it does so one side only, that eccentric load rotates it so that it pings free. Having been involved in product design myself, everything you display here behaved precisely as I thought it would. Meanwhile every day heavy leads which are not set to drop away hit snags and drop through branches into creases and crevices, locking up and jamming permanently, the real “ death rigs”. Of course the easy advise would have been just don’t use it in heavily weeded or snaggy waters if you have any remaining doubts. To that end the magic wand is a perfect alternative in that situation but giving the same effect. I knew the hanging boily bags, equal weight tight at each elbow, was a ludicrous unrealistic scenario. Ignoring firstly as that “ scientist” did, that things weigh so much lighter under water. One arm would always hit a rigid obstruction before the other, rotate and ping free. I had a designers vision, much rarer I think now than I previously realised, to envisage that would be the reality of how it would behave under water. As for the morality of self hooking rigs, we haven’t struck to set the hook for a long time in carping now, since the hair and the bolt rig, both exclaimed by some as cheating and death rigs at the time, because “unattended rods would be pulled in”. I remember so clearly club water committee Neanderthals trying to get those banned too. The personal abuse for you Ali, the social media “ pile ons” genuinely shocked me at the time. Every brainless carp angler jumped on the bandwagon and even those like me, trying to look at it more objectively, got a tiny fraction of what you must have had in terms of abuse too. Some well known angling names, sponsored anglers, tackle trade men, frankly I will never respect again, not just because they had a different opinion, but because with their “ lynch mob” supporters encouraging them, they didn’t discuss these things privately and directly with you Ali, but chose to castigate and embarrass you in the full glare of carping social media. That for me was both wrong and unforgivable too. I hope now that they think again and hang their heads in shame for the way they over reacted. An apology or two would be nice, but I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting!❤

Astonishing that there are still those “ Luddite” jokers quoting the attitudes of the likes of Chilly to product development and invention who clearly don’t even have the attention span to watch the whole video and the Magic Wand at the end of it, which is an utterly brilliant evolution of the idea for me and I cannot wait to buy and try it. Informative. Trailing line is the real problem. Pretty obvious when you think about it. A fish with thirty foot of line behind it going in and out of snags is going to get caught, tangled somewhere. Got me thinking back to when I was young and always taught by my dad to have a lighter hook link that can break easier in a snag situation. Has this been lost somewhere along the way or are there arguments against it. I still always use a lighter hook link for all my fishing with safety in mind from four pound main line with two pound hook link for silvers to fifteen pound main line to ten pound hook link for barbel

I understand alis an entertainer and gets hyped/ carried away but he needs to be alot more humble. Everything omc bring out is "the best". Not a good marketing strategy just telling everyone its the best constantly, weather it is or it isn't its very off putting for me. I've used bits of omc tackle some of its pretty standard, some of its great, some of its naff and massivley overpriced.

I bought two Magic Twigs, used one and found it clumsy and thought it was dangerous! The lake banned them on my opinion. The new version looks perfect 👌🏻 Ali I'm sorry I made a decision without knowing all these facts

I have always enjoyed watching your fishing escapades Ali. You remind us that we are all just boys at heart. As for what you've been going through, (being innovative to improve the sport) I would say "don't let the b*stars get you down bud". This vicious attitude of bad mouth, discredit, destroy and cancel is everywhere in life at the moment especially towards those and things that are different, new and not in line with mainstream thinking. People have become so aggressively narrow minded and selfish. Nowt as queer as folk. Keep doing what you do best...... being Ali Hamidi. 👍😉🏴🇬🇧🏴

Funny how mamy people have jumped on this how much weed does a standard lead bring in. Its a joke people calling this a fish killer n putting bans on lake. What makes me laugh the most is everyone is banging on how bad this is but you cant get them for being sold out lol 😂 i think what might help the simple minded is a few more videos on how to use the magic twig in the safest way. That bloke who had it the wrong way round totally bellend just trying to get views on his page. Keep up the good work ali

I am an all round angler not just carp fishing mad in fact that now comes second much prefer in my old age to sit down by a river after barbell and chub. At 71 years old and fished for 55years I have seen boilies then shelf life, goo, bait boats and many other inventions that were going to make carp fishing easier and guaranteed to catch fish or at least improve your chances immensely .At the time there was many anglers saying all the things that have been said about the twig and the biggest example is the Goo and the likes banned on most waters as it was going to kill fish and pollute waters but all these things are now a part of most carp anglers gear and excepted as ok. I don't know Ali and have no connections with his company all I say is you have a choice either buy it or don't but don't go on social media slagging a guy off who I believe only wants to help our sport and help people catch fish, and no I haven't brought any as I'm old so stick to what I've always done and I catch enough to keep me happy. But I except all sports move on and maybe this is one of those things so each to his own. I will sit back and wait for the abuse that I'm sure some will have to do which by the way will not bother me as we all have our own opinions.

I did a video on it soon after it came out and after using it once I havn't really changed my mind. I suggested that if the arms were inside some kind of capsule, that would be preferable. The new version appears to be a better design. I'll have to shell out another tenner and take a look at it!!

It’s a good product for sure. I personally think, some of its criticism naturally comes with its name, with the word twig…..I think there’s a natural reaction that word if you get me….It could have maybe benefited more, with a different name. But again that’s just my opinion. All the best guys. ❤

Can’t they make it so if that there is a break , the twig / wand what ever contraptions used is separated from the hook length like a chod leaves behind the lead core , if that makes sense to any one ?
@Aaron_Dunn-Explore_The_World

Already fisheries banning the wand because of the twig. Problem is as anglers we have to abide by fishery rules whether or not things have been tested. They could have a daft rule of camo bivvies only and you'd have to abide by that, just the way it is.

I guess im stuck in what ive used up to now as they say if its working dont change ithowever fishing in the past 10 years has been innovation inovation inovation thats why this industry is worth millions. We all have oppions nobodys forcing anyone at gun point to use it if like me your not ready for change stick to what you know and clap your hands behind your back and just say fair play for trying every idea starts somewhere. This is my own oppion anyway ive spent years watching ali i dont use omc but that is my choice

43 years ago i caught my first carp which fuelled an obsession with angling for them i have seen all kinds of tackle and make my own mind by testing products in a real environment before i use them and the "magic twig" is no more dangerous than a standard lead clip the biggest killer of all fish is ignorance thank you guys at omc for educating the ignorant and showing the ugly truth about fish safety and care

Surely if the arms were attached by pins so they can rotate 180° backwards if the fish was pulling through snags/weed and they would rotate forward when trying to play the fish back through snags/weed that would completely fix the snagging issues of the original twig and you could sell spare arms and pins incase they came off

Just my two cents. Seems like if it was designed backwards it would have solved 95% of the problem people have with it. Could have had it trailing with the arms open backwards. So any potential snags would actually close the arms inwards.. OR Could add clip on replacement arms where they are very brittle. Even scored to break very easily and just clip on a new set of arms. That way gets repeat custom in the arms too. Having said all that. The wand looks like a good step forward.

This is a brilliant way of explaining the twig. I cannot fault any of your products, I used the lock hook for the first time a few months back and I’ve never had a hook hold so well, I will always have them in my tackle box. The putty is 100000% better than any other I have used, holds in place like sh*t to a blanket even when casting 35+ wraps. I have personally not been able to use the twig YET due to rules on the lake I fish. I will definitely go to a lake where they allow them and bank some PBs. I really hope fisheries watch this and lift the bans.

Now the Magic Wand looks like a improved version of what already worked great and as it should. Brilliant Video OMC / Ali , yourself and Frank Warwick are pure innovators and don't stop for one minute fella. 👊 Steve M

People see someone who is building a new brand and challenging new ways of fishing. Basically people don't like change, what people forget is how things have changed over the years, spodding to bait boats, walking a lake to Drones. Keep doing what your doing, OMC Ali, you are the brand mate and I love ya. You have been around for years, on TV taking underwater to new levels. Everything you do is for everyone to enjoy our amazing sport. Keep positive mate, look after yourself and your family.

You Ali are worth your weight in gold! To take the shit people have spewed at you, to push through all the hate and then to come out the other side with a smug middle finger 🖕🏼is ace. I design and create products for the emergency service market and put up with so much criticism on my design and scrutiny. So know exactly what you went through and how it feels to then turn round and go (as I have) here you go I’ve listened tweaked and changed the product to suit your demands even though the original was fine in its own right. Hats off to you Ali mate ❤❤
