@@TheSweetCyclists I had it saved on my amazon list, and the price dropped from $46 to $32 a couple of days ago, so I jumped on it. Idk if it was a flash sale or what. Either way, it works perfect for my mtb with a dropper post. Thanks for your review.

Still no USB-C? I really don’t get it, especially because they already offer it for their front lights. It is so unnecessary that I have to carry two different cables for the front and tail light. It seems that you really have to force companies to provide the most basic innovations (see EU ruling for mobile phones). There is much I like the about the Seemee (I have the v1)… but it is such a disappointment with this connectivity issue.

And another issue I have with the Seemee: it tells me that the battery is still charged with a green light and 10min later it is empty and goes into the saving mode. This, the indicator is completely useless for me

Yes, the battery status can be optimistic sometimes - particularly when the battery is low. I'd recommend allowing it to fully charge. After that, I've found the status to usually be pretty useful. Turning off the brake sensor can also really extend the runtimes as the 200 lumen constant mode drains the battery if it is triggered a lot.

The brake motion light feels a little gimmicky, I don't really think people will notice it as much as flashing lights. I feel like the cateyes ViZ450 Will draw your attention as a driver more likely the way they flash. Also the battery in the viz450 last much longer than most tail lights if used properly. Cateyes is a Japanese company that's been around for a long time so it's a well known Brand. Always good to look around though

Not gimmicky, but very useful for group rides. Sometimes you'll see a few guys with lights that have this function up ahead and even though I don't know why yet, I know I'm going to have to slow down. Other riders with it have helped me avoid hazards a few times. When you need it, it will be wanted. That being said I'm a die hard Cateye fan, but the quality of their silicon bands and mounts are terrible as of late and it's getting hard to keep them attached without keeping a roll of electrical tape on me lol

With activated brake light, the battery life is a joke, yesterday tried for the first time, after 3:20h /35km the lamp was off (or sooner, you won't see it). On their website they mentioned something like "switching to low light with low battery" but the light turned off completely, don't know how long "low light" will work. With my Lezyne Drive Max the battery is enough for several tours. So the in my opinion quite useful safety feature brake light is absolutely worthless if the lamp turns off in the middle of riding.

That's why I recommend turning off the brake sensor - it can really reduce runtimes on longer rides. Once you turn it off you get much longer and consistent runtimes.

Any long term (1+ year) reviews for these taillights? I currently use a Light & Motion Vis 180 that's still working, but would upgrade to a light with better mounts & more features. It seems like current innovation in the taillight space is way behind what you see in front facing headlights.

I've been using the Seemee lights since the original reviews and they've held up well. Only my older Seemee 60 had an issue with the USB port actually coming off after 2 years which Magicshine repalced. The main suggestion I have for the current Seemee lineup is to disable the brake sensor - it really reduces the battery runtimes.

You might might want to think twice before buying anything from MagicShine which is a HK based company. After I placed an order on their website I changed my mind and tried to cancel the order the next day. I used the contact link on their website and sent them several messages over the span of 4 days. I am still waiting to hear back from them. Very frustrating. I trusted the review form the Sweet Cyclists and went ahead to order the lights.

Personally I prefer the Seemee 180 over the 200. It has a more interesting LED design, rectangular profile, and better runtimes with the lack of a bottom LED. The Seemee 150 is also a great option if you prefer a square profile.

How do you know when you have it in Smart Mode?
@TheSweetCyclists
Жыл бұрын
I don't think there is any visual indicator - you just need to count the number of modes to ensure you're in smart mode (it's easy to count from the first constant mode). You can also cover the light sensor (it's on one of the sides) or go to a dark room to see the light mode switch between day/night.

Still no fast flash especially irregular flash pattern which is by far the most attention getting. Once again I’ll pass on this new light from them. They almost got it right. I’m a long time bike messenger in nyc and I’ve tested out every flash pattern there is and cars give you the most distance and slow the most down with fast irregular flash patterns like with the Super flash Turbo by Planet Bike. They have the perfect flash pattern and brightness. The worst flash patterns where cars go fast by you and extremely close to you are constant on and also slow pulse. Fast slash is good but not to fast where it just looks like it’s constant on basically, the best is irregular flash pattern though.

I haven't had any water ingress issues, the Magicshine shine lights generally have high IPXX ratings compared to other lights on the market. You do want to make sure that the rubber covers on the USB ports are fully inserted - if that's left open you'll quickly get water inside it.
