my 3-year old boy enjoys Magma as he likes the "funny singing" from Christian. This is the first time we've heard Zëss, i promised him we'd dance to it. No idea it lasts 30 minutes! We danced to the end, the time flew by. We laughed a lot :D And by the gods i bet Antoine's arms needed a rest after that mighty drumming.

MDK used to be the song I returned to about once a month. Now, Zëss has taken its place. As an intense music-lover of over 40 years only two artists have sat right at the top of my taste-pyramid: Pink Floyd & Psykovsky (tip: check out the Tanetsveta album). Magma have already barged right up there alongside them. Such a massive and consistently-brilliant discography, and breathtaking live performances which often manage the impressive feat of elevating the already-excellent studio versions. Zëss is such an amazing piece of art, the part where the piano kicks it off, Christian Vander starts matching the guitar with his voice and then of course the otherworldly James Mac Gaw guitar solo, I've discovered this only last week and have been listening to it daily since. It does have to suck for the keyboard player to play those same two chords for almost half an hour straight...
@Chrnan6710
2 жыл бұрын
As a pianist who has had to play things as repetitive as that (but frankly not for nearly as long), it's kind of a meditative experience; because you do the same thing for so long, you completely stop thinking about it, and you sort of become one with the rest of the music being played.
