Not challenging your knowledge of your vehicle, but most transmissions supply pressure to the cooler from the upper or forward line and return to the lower or rear line. The line closest to the pan is almost always the return so cool oil can be picked up by the filter. That said, thank you for the video, it shows these things really are worth the effort.

VW *would* have to do it backwards from what most manufacturers do, because they're VW... Source: www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=522264&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20

The pressure out line fills a transmission cooler from the bottom up that's why you check your transmission when it's running

This magnefine filter is great stuff. Had it inline with hydraulic power steering return line on my 2007 Subaru Impreza(manual transmission), too bad the gosh darn head gasket blown and traded in for something else. As a result, am unable to tell you the long term benefit but I am sure the steering pump would have been the last thing to go in that POS Subaru.

2:37 You don't need to cut the plastic filters open. The large end simply unscrews and the filter comes out.

Good review I'll have to install one of these.

Only reservation I'd have is if you're transmission pump might have any problem. Also, by adding more hoses and connections, you're introducing more potential points of failure. I've had small leaks but no big deal. Be sure to use transmission hose, not heater hose or something like that

Is there a bypass mode if its clogged?

I seem to remember that there was, but I also just checked. Their website basically just points you to Amazon, where someone asked... Q: Is there a pressure bypass, cold oil or plugged filter? A: Yes there is a bypass if the filter were to become restricted. Answered by Magnefine Filters in the United States on November 29, 2018

This video was several years ago, do you still use the vehicle and are you still using these filters? I was wondering how your long term use is.

Good question. I have the vehicle, I think I removed the filter from the vehicle a while ago and honestly I don't remember why. I think my transmission is old but good condition because even without the filter I couldn't see any metal... But of course the point of the filter is to get flecks of metal too small to see. Long story short, definitely didn't seem to hurt. I did see a little tiny bit of very fine sortof powder when I changed the filter, so it may been doing some good.

I dont believe you can unscrew the plastic or metal version. They don't want you to open them

@@jwgmail you can unscrew the plastic ones not the metal one....you need a lot of torque to unscrew them
