I believe you would gain more for designing this for motorcycle usage than bicycles. On a bicycle you got more freedom and can simply use pedestrian walking paths after having pressed the light button for blinds when lights are playing games with you. On a motorcycle you just can't. You're forced to wait playing sitting ducks and eventually have no other option but to break the law if no car ever comes by. I know I did after sitting there for like 10 minutes burning fuel hopping that a car would eventually come by. My 2 cents.

+mozbius most states have rules concerning the light never changing, I believe here in NC its two light change cycles if yours has not changed you can run the light if it is safe to proceed. I see what you are saying though... who wants to sit through light cycles, some of them are WAY TOO LONG lol

+mozbius We are indeed working on a motorcycle version now. It works, so we're just getting the device to fit on as many motorcycles as we can. facebook.com/veloloop or the newsletter at veloloop.com are ways to keep apprised of our progress.

Dad told me a single clothes hangar dangled from a bicycle or his friend's dirtbike in the '60s tripped most lights in Toledo, OH. I've had no such luck near me, but two of the six magnets in this set planted under a flat steel part near the foot-pegs worked wonders for me when run directly over the sensor inside the edge of the lanes around here: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I1ZB2SE

Looks like BOTH things in the video failed, there's no green for anything. According to www.superstreetbike.com/dropping-kickstand-or-using-magnet-trips-green-light-mythbusters#page-3 : The first runs without using any methods to trigger the system resulted in an unchanging red light. On the following run while stopped in the same position, the rider reached down and swiped the Green Light Trigger HP magnet near the coil and the result was an immediate green light. On the next pass, the magnet was not used but the rider instead lowered the kickstand directly onto the coil. Again the result was an immediate change to a green light. The page has much more useful information by folks looking for helpful facts, not trying to sell their own product.

But you're using the device after more time has passed in both tests.

Interesting... I always wondered why I couldn't trigger the lights with my bike when I was young. What is the make/model of that pocket scope you're using?

+AAAyyyGGG It's a Seeed Studio DSO Nano from several years ago. I don't recommend it because it never properly triggers on a waveform. They have a newer version for $89 which I can hope is better. Sigilent has a $500 portable scope that I have my eye on. Details at seeedstudio.com & siglentamerica.com

You can trigger lights with your bike if the intersection's loops are set up correctly. If the sensitivity is set too low, they won't pick up your bike, but you can call the traffic department to get them re-calibrated.

You gave yourself away when you only left the magnet for 2 seconds

somebody must be getting a lot of kickbacks from these loop detectors; green wave or synchronized traffic coordination for smooth flow control is so much better, simpler, and makes more sense, but common sense is not that common these days anymore.
