people keep talking about how much better just magnus is but they don't understand that the opponent is a GM. No GM takes so long in their opening moves. Not even 600 elo players take 45+ seconds to take an obvious pawn ( Yes I know he may be calculating ahead, but it's just the opening. ), it was very professional and respectful of him to bleed his clock to an equal time and people need to realize that lol.

His opponent let his clock run for about 1.5 minutes, so in reality, it was a one-minute time difference and there was a two-second increment. Magnus is the obvious favourite given those stats. At 6:41 if there was continuation, Magnus not only has his black rook on white's final pawn but has 2 black pawns to drive down next to his king. The black rook may just be used for pressure at this point regarding the pawn and there are plenty of variables but most likely Magnus would have driven his pawns down to upgrade. The opponent now has to watch for his final piece as well as Magnus's black pawns. That would be my take. When it comes to most chess masters/grandmasters, they are always steps ahead in their mind and can see multiple outcomes even in fast games like this. White prob just knew he couldn't outdo Magnus at that point so he resigned.
