How is losing on time better than losing by checkmate, especially since you can use your "tactic"? What I would do is play extremely defensive and avoid trades, just to prolong unnecessarily the game to say that I didn't lose until X moves against carlsen.

I have downloaded the Magnus chess app and it's really funny to see that no matter how defensively you try to play and just trying to keep your shields up and not attack in anyway, he always finds a way to break my defense. My last chess match was unbelievable. I have this classmate--let's call him Anthony--who has a learning disability. While I don't know what it's officially called, it limits his general ability to understand things. I can't tell you how many times he needed clarification in school. He's slow, Mr. "I don't get it." He always needed help in setting up the equipment for biology class (while we all could do it easily) and he had to switch out of our chemistry class to take his own individual (and simpler) assignments to Special Ed. Sure, he's hard working in school, but look at it this way: some students are both smart and hard working and thus get good grades. Some are smart but lazy and don't get the grades they have the natural brains/skills to get. And some students are hard working but...well, you know. I can't sugarcoat it, so I'll just not finish it. Not to mention, Anthony is an 18-year-old junior in high school. Well, he should've graduated by now. Apparently his learning disability and childhood speech delay kept him back two years, between preschool and middle school overall, so he's gonna graduate at age 20 (oh, man, that's sad). But what's even sadder is this: he beat me at chess. Chess is an intellectual game, requiring brains and strategy. I've always been good at it. I mean, it's no big deal if I lose a match to just any-ol-body, but if it's Anthony, that's just... wrong. Totally ridiculous. So I gotta ask...am I stupid?
@sauron4313

@youtubeuserr90054
Жыл бұрын
Your not stupid but to me it feels like your attacking Anthony because of some self hate on your own part. See to Anthony he's just himself, normal as can be. That's who he is, he's not you or me. That's the beauty of life, if everyone had the same things we would all be unhappy and bored. It's not that Anthony is dumb. People like anythony are put here on earth to make people like me and you kick ourselves in the ass and make us wonder why we feel helpless when we are perfectly capable and with more tools than others who seem to do just fine through all of the pain and setbacks, all while some "smart guy" calls them... Well yeah u know what I'm gonna say so no need to finish it
@johnrainsman6650
Жыл бұрын
@@youtubeuserr90054 people like Anthony make us kick ourselves in the asś and feel helpless? Are you kidding me? People like him make us feel capable and intelligent. Just like how Joe biden makes other old geezers look smart and independent And the only reason he made me feel stupid and helpless is because he beat me at an intellectual game. Didn’t you read what I wrote? It doesn’t matter if anyone else beats me; ANTHONY doing so is what bugs me. Clearly you didn’t read what I wrote, so I’ll write it again. He’s a slow learner, needs clarification a lot, switched from chemistry class to special ed, and was kept back twice. Graduating at twenty is just...wrong. But not as wrong as losing something brainy to a guy like Anthony.

Tomas Novy I know 2.Bg5 is the Trompowsky, but it was almost a transposition to the Torre had he not played Ne2. Yes, so technically I am not 100% accurate and it's not the same, but very close. Usually you see Torre Attack players play this structure (but with Nf3). The dark square bishop exchange and the minority attack plan is usually effective there as well. I knew a Trompowsky player who nearly always transposed to similar Torre Attack lines after 2...e6, so I strongly associate this structure with the Torre from my experience.

Moshvu Obi Magnus' father is definitely not a GM. His father is Henrik Carlsen, whose highest listed FIDE rating was 2095, so it is safe to say he is pretty far from a FIDE title. Magnus was a GM before his father got above 2000. While it is tough to say which of the two had the best intuitive grasp of the game, it is a fair point that their family dynamics were way different and Magnus' had resources to put him in a chess club earlier. They both spent a lot of time at a very early age playing by themselves or with family members and by 9-10 they were playing adults and practicing chess seriously. Considering Carlsen was in school and did other sports for most of his youth and into his teens, it is arguable that he spent less time studying chess early in his career than Fischer did in his, even as he gained a GM title.

One minute Chess games are ridiculous the way how people have to play so fast that they're knocking the pieces over. Foolishness like that isn't what Chess is all about.

The situation determines it, the one who doesn't have strategic initiative, leverage of piece point count, or is checkmated in 2-3 moves will offer the shake/resign. The one in the advantageous position never does, if you do it is considered extremely arrogant. If the initiative, point count, or near-end isn't so clear the shake means a draw. It's also a matter of body language. Looking confident, smiling, and shaking means draw. Looking grumpy/frustrated and giving the shake means resign.

Move 20. Re3 seemed to be a mistake worth getting from actually even to -0.35 for Magnus. 22.Qh4 is another -028, now carlsen is up -0,63. and then 24. f4 is what really kills Bohm to a -1.88. (better move was c4) 26.Nf3 is another -0.30, to -2.10 now. and the 30. Qh4 is the deathstab jumping to -9.40

+Dennizzz119 Losing 20 centipawns twice in the mid-game in a bullet game is only to be expected, even from an IM. But indeed, f4 was quite the mistake because it allows bxc3, leading to a devastating attack with the rook on the seventh rank. Also, just copy-pasting computer evaluations doesn't always help people understand why a move is either good or bad!

@YouDabian Besides, to me Kh2 looks more promising, if you can use the word promising in this position. White will loose at least a knight, and have a very bad position. Qf2 only delay, because then white is checkmate after, for instance: 33. Qf2, Qxf2 34. Kh2, Rxe1 (W in zugzwang) 35. Nxe1, Qg3+ (W doesn't have other options, or Qg3+ will mate) 36. Kg1, Qxe1+ (W could move to h1, but same result) 37. Kh2, Qg3+ (W in zugzwang) 38, Kg1, Rb1++ (again, white could have moved to h1, but same result)

Hey man, analog chess clocks aren't crappy, and they have a flag, which tells you when you've run out of time. and most pieces used in tournaments (at least in America) today aren't wood. And the board is Vinyl, which is a type of chess board also used in many tournaments. It's not about what kind of board and pieces you have, it's about what you do with those materials.

If you'd watch games on master and grandmaster level you'd find out that most matches actually end before a check mate occurs because someone resignes. At some point it just becomes obvious that one's gonna lose. It is polite to give up to waste no time.

no if he moves it into cover by the two pawns he still has a shot at winning it because for example if magnus' queen could only move 2 places or stay there or risk losing it and then he could move a number of other pieces but then the other guy still has several pieces of his own and there is a chance he could have still won
