After Carlsen in white played Bb5, black's rook was trapped on b6. Carlsen would take it after Nc4. The black rook could only capture the bishop or be lost. Thus, Polgar would have to play down a knight and one pawn in the endgame. Plus her rook was on a useless square.

+LarryRickenbacker if you offer a handshake after you make a move, then you are offering a draw... and the other player will either accept or decline, but if you extend your hand instead of making a move then you are resigning... she extended her hand instead of playing so she resigned ...

People should shake Carlsen's hand to start the game, and then go ahead and shake his hand again before their first move.

If a chess player handshakes the opponent so hard that the other cannot use a hand to move figures during the match, is that considered a win? :)

Why is she not trying to get control of the centre. I am new to chess, but I studied that controlling the centre along with developing pieces and the King's safety are very important aspects of openings..
