Grigoriants should have watched Daniel King's video to avoid playing g4 in Spanish against Magnus 😂

I'm over simplifying it when I say it always seems like Magnus studies concepts while others memorize theory. Incredible how many wins he gets in a similar fashion. Personally, I'm not playing a 500 year old opening against him. :) Thanks for the review! Happy New Year everyone.

Great analysis as always Daniel. Must say Magnus has had another good year of results. Think he is easing past Kasparov to be the GOAT. Happy New Year to you and your family. See you next year!

Dubov has himself to blame. There are myriad ways to draw a chess game and himself & Nepo chose the walliest way, ending up with 0 points and probably missing out on the 1st place.

If he had got a draw or win, Dubov would have got another pairings on the top, another mindset etc. Its quite hopeless to read all the comments who just ad 0.5 points to his 15.5. And the silly pre-arranged game could have been punished by disqualification of the tournament, so the 0 point was a soft reaction.

It’s lonely at the top. Magnus lost one game (to MVL) in the blitz. Lost no games in rapid. Won both titles and still lost rapid and blitz rating points for the entire tournament. But that’s why he’s the STOAT.

2:04 Why not just pin the white knight to his queen? Well… Bd5 Qd7 Bxf6 gxf6, and blacks pawns are damaged anyway.

Please show Magnus’s win over Fedoseev in the rapid event. Textbook Nimzo-Indian with Black, worthy of Aron Nimzovich himself.

Not sure why anyone would choose to defend the Ruy Lopez against Magnus🤔

imo the problem is not only g5 but the previous rook g8 which made him play g5 later on and was the wrong plan in this position.

Thanks for showing us another interesting game from Carlsen pinnig blacks Nf6 in the Spanish after black played Bc5 and d6. After h6 and g5 Magnus showed, how perfect he exploitet the opponent's open king position. Best wishes for you, dear Mr. King, for 2024.

3:35 In this kind of position the black king should stay in the middle. It is clear that either the queen side or the king side is safe. I would have played h5 and if Nxg5 then h4 and I would take the bishop.

Not interested in achievements of computers or Goliath over others weak. This IS interesting just because Mr Daniel comentaries are so elocuents.

Dear Daniel. I have just wanted to make a little contribution from Turkey (Turkiye) but found out that paypal service is not availble. And that has been the case since 2016!!! Please let me know if there is any other alternative...
