The Saraswathi Veena is the instrument played by the Indian goddess of Music,
Saraswathi and has developed in India since pre vedic times (5000 BC)
Though extremely versatile. it's unique sound has remained relatively
unknown internationally. Geetha Navale who has been playing the instrument
for decades has made it her life's mission to showcase the veena to the world.
Whether at the state of the art music venue like the Knitting Factory in
Manhattan, playing with avant -garde jazz musicians or playing solo in a temple
in South India, her special touch on the Veena, the mother of all instruments
has drawn the listener to a different world.
Singer and Songwriter, Gopal Navale is a compulsive musician with the
uncanny ability to share his delight in music with his audience. His songs are
very contextual, reacting profoundly to life around him. Being able to resonate
with all forms of music he understands the underlying unity beyond the
diversity of geo-cultural genres.
The Esperanto Project aims at evolving a seamless new blend of music. The deep melodic raga dives of Geetha Navale's Veena & the funky groove of songwriter
Gopal Navale framing the picture.
Esperanto is a language devised in the 19th century by combining various languages
of the world to enable a common link language. Likewise the Esperanto music
project has the objective to evolve a musical Esperanto,so that some of the great
musical traditions of the world can meet, exchange and explore new frontiers of
delight.
