The original version was , ' it's no nay never, no nay never no more , will i play Blackburn Rovers, no never no more '. 😉. Clancy Brothers do a great version though.

And, what, praytell, is the matter with *you* there, lad? Regardless of the feckin version, this song is one of Me personal favourites, so I'll thank ye NOT to trash it the way ye have.

The title of the song should be "Maid o' Fyvie" or "The Bonny Lass o' Fyvie -O". Fyvie is a town north west of Aberdeen in Scotland and the words in the song refer to nearby towns - Auchterless, Garrioch, Gight, Oldmeldrum and others. Nothing to do with the Kingdom of Fife! ,

Precisely, Lochdubh - which in the Gaelic means the dark or black lake - appears to be the a name chosen for the TV show Hamish Macbeth but It doesn't actually exist. There is a bed and breafast place near Lochcarron calling itself "Loch Dubh Bed and Breakfast" (probably after the TV series!). The series was filmed in Plockton and Kyle of Lochalsh. However there is a Loch Dubh in the Glenbanchor Estate at Newtonmore. It is tiny (a lochan). I notice your spelling "Lochdub". A "dub"in Scotland means a puddle. Perhaps this is your hometown? although I don't think anyone lives there!
