This beautiful 14th-century Middle English lyric, Maiden in the Moor Lay, is about a lady who lives in the wilderness for seven full nights, and discusses what she ate (flowers), drank (water from the spring), and where she slept (a bower of flowers). Nobody knows who she was, or why she was in the wilderness. It's been performed for more than 700 years.
It was performed by Monique Bouchard in the Maine woods in early spring.
