Hey mate, thought only range appliance doesn't require RCD protection? Can't see anything in anzs 3000 about AC and hot water being exempt unless I'm missing something

@cozzaa good thought I can look but I believe its under fixed wired appliances, But in the 2018 regs when they come in for nz AC hot water and maybe even ranges (not 100% sure) have to be on RCDs

Yeah been in oz and wasn't aware that NZ still uses 2007 so yeah it's not required ( saves a lot of nuisance tripping if you ask me)

@cozzaa yea but we are at the stage that we are behind the times, and it gets a bit ridiculous. With the likes of evs and batteries

How come you don’t use RCBOs? Just wondering because I’m an apprentice and I’ve never installed an RCD, always just use RCBOs for anything new

@vHystrix there is no real difference except that rcbos are move expensive. We use rcd mainly because thats what we have always use but also because we want our apprentices to be able to wire one and not just rely on rcbo 🤙maybe ill make you a video bro

WTF bro? I can do all the meter wiring in OZ, I own myself all the gear to do the job right, no 3rd party need.

What bit are you referring to? The lines company requires us to get one of their certified fuse pullers it you are talking about that

@@_nztradie what is the biggest conductor size the single screw slot can accept? Thanks
@_nztradie
11 ай бұрын
@IAmTheD it would be a 6mm² you can get a 4mm² folded over to fit, but the next size after 6mm² is 10mm² and that definitely won't fit in the single screw terminal

@@_nztradie Thanks. What are the size of the mains here and why the 3 MCBs are without RCD protection? Don't you think it's better to replace the three MCBs with RCBOs? Sorry, a lot of questions but I have learned a couple of things from this video 👍

@IAmTheD youre all good bro, it was a 16mm mains here. Some appliances such as heat pumps, ovens, hobs, and hot waters are not required to have rcd protection
