From Camp Mainblick in Schwarzenau we start the next stage and come to Dettelbach. A suitcase at the town hall commemorates the many Jewish people who were deported to the concentration camps and extermination camps of the NAZIs between 1941 and 1943 as a "DenkOrt Deportation Dettelbach".
From Dettelbach we drive past Mainstockheim and come to Kitzingen. The Old Main Bridge connects the town of Kitzingen with the district of Etwashausen. From the shore side in the district of Etwashausen you have a wonderful panoramic view of the city of Kitzingen.
We continue cycling on the MainRadweg past Hohenfeld to Marktsteft. The Main Cycle Path now leads to the southernmost tip of the Main triangle in Marktbreit.
You should definitely visit the historic old town of Marktbreit. The two mirror-like houses with the pretty bay window and onion dome are particularly striking. The city wall is partially built up with residential buildings, the painter angle house was even built on the wall at the Breitbach. The historic port facility with the old crane can be seen on the banks of the Main.
For us it's on to Ochsenfurt, the sugar city on the Main.
We drive over the old Main Bridge to Kleinochsenfurt on the other side of the Main. From here, the cycle path leads along the right bank of the Main past the Goßmannsdorf lock and Sommerhausen.
Eibelstadt's leisure and recreation area invites you to take a short break right on the banks of the Main. It goes past Randersacker to Würzburg.
Marienberg Fortress can be seen on the left side of the Main. It bears witness to more than 1000 years of history and is one of the most impressive monuments in the city. Also on the left side of the Main is the well-known pilgrimage church, the Käppele. The Old Main Bridge is more than just a bridge. As a car-free zone, it is a popular meeting place. Here you can enjoy the beautiful view of the fortress, the vineyards, the city and the Main with a glass of wine in good company. When leaving the city we discover the old cranes on the banks of the Main. Just like in Marktbreit, the pedal wheel had to be operated by human power. From Würzburg we continue in the direction of Zell am Main. After a few kilometers we come to Margetshöchheim and Erlabrunn.
Before we know it we are already in Zellingen. The MainCamp campsite is located near the Zellinger outdoor pool. There are also about 6 free mobile home parking spaces.
From Zellingen we continue to Himmelstadt. In Himmelstadt, the Main Cycle Path leads to the NaturSchauGarten with the 1st German Philatelic Educational Trail. In 1986, the Post Office in Himmelstadt was officially named the "Christmas Post Office". Every year, tens of thousands of wish lists are answered by the many volunteers.
In the next stage we will take you back to Karlstadt, Gemünden and Lohr am Main.
Goodbye in next video Meggi and Wolfgang @RadtourenGehle
