NHIE changed that perspective, it showed an Indian girl and while she did crazy shit she was still relatable and that's what makes the show great ❤ P.S. this isn't to hate on white girls, they should have their stories and struggles written out too, but we should also include stories of many other people rather than sticking to one group.

@@Mimiscellaneous**"SKIN WHITE AS SNOW, LIPS RED AS BLOOD , HAIR BLACK AS EBONY"** WHY even remake Snow WHITE to be **"Snow Beige & the 6 pronoun hipsters & 1 token dwarf"** ⁉️. How insulting to the dwarf community too! I'm glad dwarfs are speaking out about their outrage over being erased in this. This was the perfect opportunity for dwarfs to have some representation that Disney is always talking about. Ironic. Not to mention Ariel - erasing redheads who are also very rare. Again ironic. How can everyone not see how insulting it is that instead of creating new stories for black characters & minorities - they're just pandering because Disney knows it's too easy to pander. Tiana& the frog, Jasmine & Aladdin, Pocahontas, Mulan , Moana = All not white. Yet Disney isn't redoing any of these movies & changing the ethnicity of these characters 🤔 White erasure.
@Mimiscellaneous
10 ай бұрын
@@WarmongerYT No one is talking about that right now. And I’m not wasting my energy debating you about it. Here is my only response: 1) redhead is not a race and last I checked no one is born with fire hydrant red hair, the actress for Ariel was chosen for her demeanor and voice per the director. I can’t think of any age appropriate white actresses that are already in the industry who can sing the way she does. (Also - Merida is a princess with actual true to color red hair). 2) There’s no “white erasure” because the original films still exist. If you go to a Disney park the white redhead Ariel is still there. Even if they decided to remove Ariel, there are still 6 other white princesses. Notice that if you remove one of the non-white princesses and make them white, then there’s no princess for that race anymore. 3) Story adaptations aren’t new or strange. Even the little mermaid as you know it is an adaptation of the original story. The little mermaid was supposed to be blonde - it was changed for marketing purposes to distinguish her from Cinderella. Plus as I’m sure you know - Disney changed the entire story to make it more fun, magical, and audience friendly. Real fairy tales contain serious tragedies. 4) As far as Snow White . The gag is - she’s a white woman. Her dad is polish and Latina isn’t a race it’s an ethnicity. She’s just a white woman with an olive skin tone. Yet, because she’s not pale European white…backlash. The actress herself is annoying, but it’s strange that the main issue is her skin tone. 5) Blame Peter Dinklage for the non-casting of dwarves. He said it would be offensive to the dwarf community to have them play there stereotypical roles. Those ahead of you usually pave the way, he shut the door. Probably to protect his own job prospects. Now after you’ve taken your time to read all of that, I hope you have a good day. But I don’t want to talk again. I really hate back and forth.

If we wanted to watch southeast asian as leads, then we should just watch southeast asian movies. Why should we expect a white dominated country to put southeastern as leads? So weird. Honestly speaking, it's because the US is a diverse country, in terms of races, they have people all around the world. In the case of India, we don't have Africans or Canadians or Japanese living here, that also permanently, do we now? And moreover, the people in India are quite content. South Indians watch their own regional movies, North Indians watch their Bollywood, they don't complain about this, those who are left behind in this rat race, especially if we're talking about people taking part in the casting auditions, will be left behind. Another reason can be that the minor races in the US raised their voice for inclusivity, for not discriminating amongst gender, race or sexualities, that they've been to see a diverse range of characters. This also didn't start in one day, it was a culmination of efforts of many long years. Here in India, we don't do that, just ranting on Twitter or Insta doesn't stop nepotism, nor does it help in inclusivity. There's also the fact the rookies never raise their voices against this, they are young, they think they're at fault, but most of the time they're actually more talented than the Nepo kids. Here in India there's competition in everything and some groups have an unfair advantage, but we never do anything about that, unfortunately. Even the casting auditions are not transparent, whereas in the US everything is available over the net. It'll still be a long time before we actually see diverse representations of Indian mainstream media.

Why would you ever invest in it --unless you're patron moneybucks and everyone involved is willing to take the loss. Which, good luck, and def not a thing in minority communities lmao This is an immigrant take here: I watch north american & international cinema for fun, and I watch my cultural foreign domestic cinema for a taste of home or 'representation'. My diaspora isnt a cast favourite and it's cringe when the california studios pick from the very limited pool that even enter the industry here on the acting front, worse yet a non-speaker butchers the accent and writer butchers the culture (dont get me wrong they can try as they like, I'll be pleasantly surprised when they pull it off and watch the thing twice). A better alternative already exists already, I'm not starving. And with how bad writing's gotten in Hollywood mainstream works in the past 10 years, foreign cinema's out competing them in quality on multiple fronts. Increased american investments in foreign cinema abroad not far behind--that's where there's money to be made. For impressionable kids? Parents need to be curating for what they're watching, for their internal image and all that. This includes foreign cinema/tv IF they think it'll do any good, which is a personal choice, cause there are a whole lot of Hollywoods out there that arent in California. Streaming's been around for a good bit, online pirate mirror streaming's been around for 2+ decades, Blockbuster always had an international section, satellite has been ubiquitous for more than a decade, even cable TV has international/cultural focus channels -- the entire cultural kaleidoscope of the world media is and has been at your fingertips for at least 15 years of you live in the usa or canada. That people havent seen it? Havent looked for it? Havent introduced their kids to it as a thing that exists? That's a in-family thing for people to work through

If you can only identify with a character because they look like you, you're a racist. If you want more characters that represent something to do with your culture, create them yourself (or find the ones already created by your culture). If you think there's something wrong with a culture creating art that predominantly represents their culture, you're a xenophobe. People should not be bothered by other people creating art that represents the culture and ideas they want to present to the world and that they, the creators, relate to. That is ABSURD and if you want art that represents your particular idea of what that art should represent, the only reasonable option is to make it yourself and not bitch about it. I don't complain that the Ip Man series has no white men in it (except the "bad guys" in Ip Man 2). I actually love those movies despite the fact I'm not remotely Asian. I loved the Blade movies as a kid despite the fact the main hero was black. If you need someone to share your skin color to feel represented, you are showing yourself to be nothing more than a shallow, helpless individual that has no redeeming qualities because otherwise *those qualities* would represent you more than skin color ever could. If you were an individual with your own individual qualities, you would see those in all sorts of art without ever needing to even consider the color of the person making/representing that art.
@AcidAdventurer

Her comments are the ones not helping anyone. What good does saying "omg nobody is the same shade as me in the movies I like" even do? Literally nothing. And if it does bring about any change, it is going to bring about superficial and pointless change that can only negatively impact the art that is being changed *as it has done already.* And this is because skin color IS superficial and focusing on superficial issues creates superficial art

@@kylelennon333The majority of america is white today and have been since the constitution was created. We have to be realistic and stop creating distance between ourselves as humans. In my country most actors are black. Whites are the minority and they are almost never represented, the same goes for asians. Majority rules will always be first and beauty standards depends on the majority. I live in china now ( i am black) and i don't feel insecure because I know who i am. I see people for who they are and if there mindset is similar to mine then i can relate to them. I think that due to the expansion of civilization and man's distance from nature ( the wild). It has caused us to create problems like this- when you are in survival mode, you are not thinking about representation, you just only want to survive. I think Americans are so privileged that they create more mental problems for themselves as there other needs are being met. Majority of people outside of America are not thinking this way and i do believe that when they think of America the first person comes to mind is a white person ( they are not far off with that logic). People should remove emotions outside of this and think logically. In regards to the actress I won't dismiss her feelings entirely since she is in the business but if she was not turned down for the other roles she auditioned for, she wouldn't be in the amazing role she is in now. I watched "never have i ever" and i related to her because everyone as a teenager have made stupid mistakes. In conclusion, 75.5 percent of the Usa is "white" therefore most actresses, business owners and wealthy people will be white since the probability is much higher. I will further add that culture also plays an important role. Most asians are in tech or some Science based career because there parents push them to be in these fields. That means less asian actors in the acting world thus less representation. According to Zippia, "32.5% of all actors are women, while 67.5% are men. The average actor age is 37 years old. The most common ethnicity of actors is White (57.0%), followed by Hispanic or Latino (16.5%), Black or African American (13.2%) and Unknown (6.6%). In 2022, women earned 95% of what men earned." I think these figures are proportional to the demographics of the country. Sorry for my essay 😂

I just had an issue with the way the actor had to bring down a white girl to hype up her. Every ethnicity is beautiful, I hate that racism even made people feel that way, we are all skin and bones with a soul in the end of the day, everything else is just characteristic and that should be unique and beautiful not segregated and ripped apart. While companies made them they were atlwart unique, esp SP bc they had medieval focus on it and fairytales were passed on from the mediecial ages and before

Most Disney Characters of the kind yr talking about - were based on Northern European💡Faerie Tales & Folklore; & often where the Herione was red haired & green eyes - bc it is THE RAREST💜💜 Colouring in the World💜💜 These Tales are Centuries old! but bc💡 this Colouring was SO rare - the girls who HAD this Colouring became of 💜💜Almost Mythical Status💜💜 Nobody cared about ra*e - bc it was in Northern Europe. 💡Before mainstream Travel. Ergo It's ridiculous framing those about ra*e & saying oh - it's not right. (Japanese Fairytales are all about Japanese. Chinese about Chinese) Mainstream travel just wasn't a thing then🙏💜🇬🇧💜🌏💜

I agree we need more Native American and Hispanic American and black American representation. No offense but if you’re diaspora has only 1 million people within the us and you’re technically culturally from the other half of the planet why don’t you worry about it. There are other populations that have lots of history here that deserve a lot more historical and cultural representation within the us.

As a Japanese man, I never saw skin color like these people do. When I was a child, I didn’t get a toy cause of the skin color, I got it for their performance or what they stood for, so wolverine. My best friend was a black girl named lashanda king, I always looked up to her for how crazy / adventurous she was. When you start blaming society for color issues and such, you stop accepting yourself as the cause of issues

This is because you cannot understand their perspective and the perspective of others not like you. You think people are blaming society without thinking about what society has told people beauty is. This is even a thing in Japan where hafu models are preferred over pure Japanese models by many agencies. Why? Most Japanese people aren't mixed. There's no marketing advantage in courting those who are mixed in Japan.

I am black woman and watched all things Indian growing up because I love the culture and especially the music. You are 100% right, colorism is real. They will give you what you ask for (representation) but make sure she is as light as possible. It’s laughable but a reality.

Only for those to weak minded abs only consume tv. Read a book, go outside, write the characters you want to see. A character should be able to be related to by more then skin color. If you only see yourself as your skin then your weak.
