It's 140 million but even that is being contested in court since the next highest conference exit fee is 50m and the big 10 has 0 exit fee so it could be struck down as excessive in courts.

I don't expect FSU and Clem, or anyone planning on leaving the ACC, to be able to dodge the exit fees. The teams agreed to those terms

Regardless of what the ACC and Big12 try to do, we are ultimately going to end up with two super conferences. I don't like it, but they're already settled on that happening. Everything I've seen and read has the SEC and B1G being the two super conferences with likely 24 teams in each conference. The format they want, which I again don't agree with, is they will have playoffs within each conference and then the two conference winners playing for the Natty. It'll be the minors' version of the NFL. Personally, I hate the idea. It is going to destroy the traditions and rivalries that college football is known for, and each of the two conferences will still remain top heavy. How does that benefit the sport? All it does is entice mediocre programs to join one of the two super conferences for the MONEY, and they will still be mediocre teams in the end. So, are we to give them that money and then mandate how they spend it saying it all has to go to the football programs at each university?? And, even with that, without the big brands that many teams now have they'll still be limited in their recruitment. Big brans were built over the years, they weren't suddenly bought! To add to that, what happens to the other 60 or so other teams that are left out of the super conferences? Where do they end up and how are they to be funded being a "second tier" program? What do they have to play for at year's end? Is anyone even looking into where and what those other teams devolve into, or how to help them even stay in existence? I just think we're dumping on all of these programs to get to a mini-NFL format, which quite frankly I don't want to see. Would having say an 8-5 division winner within a conference make the playoffs over say a 10-3 team that deserves to be there be fair. That's what I hate about the NFL, among many other things. That is the reason so many of us love college football but could care less about the NFL. So, do be careful what you wish for. Turning college football into the minor leagues with an NFL format will ruin the sport. Yes, college football is big business, but once you make it ALL about the money and business end of things college football will no longer be the same. You're simply destroying over a century's worth of traditions, rivalries, and pageantry in my opinion.

I don't think the ACC as a whole crumbles. There won't be a landing spot for a vast majority of the teams unless the Big 12 gets weird and tries to make a super conference to keep themselves relevant. Even if the Big12 adds FSU and Clemson (I personally don't think they will), they'll still be #3. So they'll feel like they need to do something different to stand out

ACC wont fold. Difference between it and the pac 12 the pac lost L.A which was 70% of the eyeballs. ACC has great viewership. Phillips is seeing if there are any X12 schools that add value. Because ESPN has a great deal on the ACC. So dont discredit the ACC yet. FSU and clemson might not go anywhere!

People who see parallels between the ACC and the Pac12 don't realize that that the Pac12's only saving grace was Los Angeles, the 2nd largest media market in the US. Once they lost LA, the other schools panicked and the dominos fell. The ACC is a collection of large media markets on the east coast. Also, the state of North Carolina makes a lot of money off the ACC and are heavily invested in the conference. The State legislature is not going to allow UNC, Duke, NC State, and Wake Forest to abandon the state conference. UVA and Va Tech also have homes in the ACC. That's six schools that aren't going anywhere! Add Syracuse, BC, and Pitt not having a realistic home and you have a conference. Now, the ACC could start poaching. You don't think WVU, Cincy, and UCF wouldn't want to be in the ACC? You don't think USF wouldn't accept a half share to be added? The ACC is not the Pac12! The ACC is not going anywhere after FSU and Clemson leave! The ACC will survive!

@@francoisdillinger9992it will survive but it won’t be the same. An ACC without FSU & Clemson is essentially a G5 conference at best. It’s already a weak conference even with them. There’s also no way schools like UNC, Miami & a few others would stay once FSU & Clemson dip.
