Mine too. Call crkt, they only had “ 1 simular complaint” , hard to believe form others comments. Took mine apart lightly (fine) sanded detent ball and a little around the hole (hard to get in there) lubricant and worked a lot. 95% improvred. Could have returned it, but I guess I have come to accept that CRKT is the Keltec of the knife world. ;)

Your criticism of this knife is completely VALID, for all the reasons you mentioned. However, I do enjoy the knife. The price is right, the feel and weight and balance is wonderful, the blade shape is exquisite, it's the right size for me, and the shape is awesome. I click it with my thumb and my finger, simultaneously, and then I wrist flick it open. I'm okay with that. I do the same thing with my left hand.

Yes! Thank you! You isolated the problem. I thought I got the only defective one because no one else appeared to have any misgivings with this knife. It hadn't occurred to me that it was pressure on the liner lock from the back that was causing the problem. The way I described it is it felt like there was a magnet in there holding the blade in place and for the life of me I couldn't get it to open. The end result for me was returning it to the site I purchased it from. I asked them if anyone else had run into the same problem and they said I was one of two returns and the other guy simply didn't like it. I was considering buying another one thinking I received a faulty knife but will not be doing so now that I know it's a design flaw. Thanks once again for clearing it up for me.

same problems, strong detent. Took it appart, you can feel the bearings roling on one side. These sides are now facing the blade tang. Thumb and Spydi flick work fine now and detent is good. First I could feel the bearings when opening but now it seems to be smoothing in. No guarantie this is the correct repair.

CRKT comes out with some good looking knives, but there always seems to be something off about them. That's why I never bought one, or a frame lock. You shouldn't have to think about how to position your fingers so you can open your knife. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a quick opening.

I've read through all the comments and it's not keeping fingers off the lock bar or placing your finger in the hole just right, mine is the same and it's a periodic bad knife. I can't open it unless I two hand it, hold the blade by the hole and flip the handle away, or hold the hole with my thumb and index finger and push the handle down with my middle finger. If taking it apart and turning the bearings over fixes it, I'll try that. Or maybe fiddling with the detent/hole. Easing the lock bar up a little sounds good too. 🤷♂️

this is one of voxnaes best looking designs for sure. i wanted to love it so much but the big problem with mine was that the detent ball would get caught on the blade tang because they didnt mill in a detent ball ramp on it. it would cause the knife to shut really hard and fast because i was having to put more pressure on the blade while closing it the break the detent ball onto the detent ball path and it would come flying shut and multiple times it sliced into my fingers. that in my opinion is unacceptable for a folding knife to be sold in that condition. i polished up the blade tang and put a more smooth area onto the detent ramp and it doesnt happen anymore but still bothers me that they couldnt do that before shipping it. other than that the opening hole doesnt really bother me or any other feature really except for the excessive branding on the blade. wish it was more of a clean minimalist look

I had a two Sun knife that was the same way. You shouldn't have to do your own work to make a brand new knife work properly, but you might try just polishing the the detent hole. Sometimes there is kind of a Sharp lip around the edge of the hole and as soon as it is moved out the knife works much better. I usually try that before adjusting the tension on the lock bar itself

@@jerseyknifeguy6382 that little screw is the over travel stop, you would need to remove that to adjust the bar because you actually have to bend it a little bit past that point so you can relieve some of the tension. It doesn't take much

@@jerseyknifeguy6382 no problem, not sure if anybody has a video showing the process to adjust and tune a framelock, but would be a good one to make maybe. It doesn't take much to change the action significantly, so only use gentle pressure to bend past its stopping point a little at a time. Sucks putting it together and taking it back apart a few times, but better than bending too far.
@wescochran8119

I with you Jersey. Just got mine and can't flick it open. Tried loosening the pivot which helped a little but then the blade is a tiny bit loose and doesn't center. I also don't like the release on the lock: the G-10 is not milled away from the press surface so I can't 'press down' on the lock when holding the knife 'flat'. I can rotate the knife belly up so my thumb sweeps across the lock, but that is difficult. So far the best way I've found to unlock is to reach across the bottom with my pointer finger and pull the lock. Obviously not optimum at all since that puts my fingers in the way. Plus mine doesn't feel buttery smooth either. Otherwise I love the look, feel and design of the knife alot. Disappointed to say the least.

I can open it with my left thumb, reverse flick it with my left hand and the same with my right no problem (I’m left handed) The reverse flick in my left hand took a bit to figure out because my natural grip had my thumb over the lock bar but now I can do it easy just by moving my thumb lower down towards the bottom so it isn’t holding down the frame lock I would absolutely recommend this knife, was mostly intuitive and fun apart from that one issue that I’ve gotten over easy

I just got mine today, and I'm not having any of those problems brother. Maybe you got a bad one. CRKT has a history of poor QC. Mine opens whether my finger is on the lock bar or not. I can thumb flick it, or skow roll it open with my thumb, and Spydie flicking is no problem for me at all. Send it back and ask for a replacement, or a refund, whichever you choose. The only issue I had was it wasn't as smooth on the close as everyone else's seemed to be, so I adjusted the pivot screw maybe a quarter turn, and no it's like butter. I'm very pleased with mine.
