When it all goes to he*l you can sit back and enjoy the peace of mind of knowing you will be ok and can swoop in and pick up some real deals on near new equipment. Keep safe down there.

Oh man, that’s not only the hard way to find something buried in the ground but expensive to. I’ve worked on equipment and when, not if, things go bad, it’s hammer down time and get it back up and running and don’t cut corners because it will bite you in the end. Like your take on the economy, and these fuel prices are going to start shutting down a lot things from work to recreation and that means jobs and no jobs no money for fuel and other things, and on and on it goes. Thanks for the video.

@ke6gwf

I had never looked at how the drums are driven on those. That's kind of brilliant just to use basically standard technology diffs, axles, and planetaries, and some big ass chains, to change the direction of rotation, move it back to the main shaft, and allow drum movements. Sorry it broke on you, but you seem capable of handling most anything! Good luck getting it up and running properly soon.

Nice explanation of the drive system. Makes so much sense, vast majority of the power is going to the drum, so to run the wheel motors off the PTO while a fairly conventional geared transmission runs the drum... Sucks that cat don't even got the parts on the shelf, though it is a rather niche machine.

Good to hear from you again, was thinking you might have fallen off the face of the Earth or blew up from working so much. But yes, it's a good idea to get the seals and bearings replaced while the bits are apart because you're not lying about them failing after reassembly. Power wash what you can, then get a old needle scaler or small chisel for an air hammer to get at the really caked on stuff, and no kidding about the forecast for fuel and the market, it's getting real scary and doesn't look like it's going to be better anytime soon. Keep safe out there.

If you are loosing money in the market you are with the wrong broker. If you've been riding this out on the S&P... you're with the wrong broker. And absolutely. Carry no debt if possible. Debt is leverage... and not the good leverage either.
