i made a scratch project that was pretty much exactly this, exept is uses a ton of billboards instead of lines. the creation of it is pretty much exactly the same. this is a really nice was to visualize it!

you came up on my feed only a couple days ago, and i'm so glad you did! this video inspired me to give this topic a go, using it as a pseudo-tutorial. even though the video is so short, the explanations given are so in depth. there are things i'm struggling with, but overall it's been a fun experience. super excited to see this series go further

well C# has a math. function where you can handle complex mathematical calculations like square root and he uses none of those. so technicly the engine is done without the MATH function and isn't a clickbait

My understanding is that was an actual limitation back in the day. Concave objects can be decomposed into multiple convex objects

Since this is a line renderer it can totally do any shape you want, no problem. Concave vs convex isn't an issue, since there's no sorting anyway

Great video. No math is a bit of a stretch, especially the rotation is a matrix multiplication expressed verbosely but you kind of glossed over that. Thanks

Yeah, the idea is that even people who know very little math can understand rotation conceptually though. As opposed to something like building a projection matrix. We don't really expect people to grapple with the underlying memory allocator design in order to use malloc either.
