If you don’t have a Bloc Loc ruler, a couple of layers of painters tape works great too.

Took me a minute to realize -- that block is made with 3 colors, not two like the demo block. I think maybe that’s what really gives it the “folded” look?

Here in northern sweden it is minus 14 degrees Celsius today, nature is coverd with snow, there are small sharp snowflakes in the air and it is still dark most of the day, BUT IT IS FRIDAY. So, I jump out of bed, rush out with my dog, make my coffee and then I'm ready to enjoy my Friday morning. All because I know Jenny is waiting for me. I love you, Jenny. Such a wonderful, colorful quilt. When I sew directly on the line for flying geese, my blocks wind up small. If I see a few threads over, they are the correct size but the point is less than 1/4”. Would love a suggestion/help…thanks!
@juttaspa869

When you sew the squares to the rectangle, sew slightly "outside" the diagonal line. So when you finally flip over the triangles you will have a little bit of extra seam allowance
@loriar1027
2 жыл бұрын
Maybe add 1/8 or 1/4 to the size of the square you’re using.
@suekay5353
2 жыл бұрын
@@juttaspa869 Thank you Jutta. When I do that, the 1/4” seam at the point of the geese is less. How do you compensate for that?
@suekay5353
2 жыл бұрын
@@loriar1027 Thanks Lori. If using yardage, I would do that. But since this is using precut, there isn’t enough to cut bigger.
@juttaspa869

@Sue Kay, normally it shouldn't matter that the seam allowance at the point are a tiny litle bit smaller. Don't sew too much off the diagonal line 😅

Origami is from 2 Japanese words: Ori = the folding of and Kami ( soft g sound) or Gami = paper. Looks very little like folded paper, looks more like an aerial view of open boxes. Either way it is a beautiful block, well demonstrated. *(I'm an origami teacher, 50 yrs ) origami quilted accents are sewn in seams and they're great. Will you try some?

I learned so much from my great grandma, grandma and mom but they have all passed away and now I am a lone quilter. I love seeing you and your girls enjoy quilting together, it makes my heart so happy. I so wish I still had that in my life. Thank you to you and your family for bringing that joy and wonderful memories back. Much peace, love, happiness and blessings to you and your family🥰

You cut so easily! It seems like you’re not putting a lot of pressure on the ruler, yet it doesn’t move when you cut. I know a sharp blade helps, but sometimes my ruler moves toward the top.
