Made a number of ad hoc stoves where I grew up in cold country. Made a lot of mistakes, learned a lot. Winter camping/back packing was always my favorite time of the year. Now retired and living in the S/W Upper Sonoran desert of Arizona I enjoy your videos not only for the info, but for the atmosphere. Old memories come back. I can hear the sigh of wind in the pines, the squeak and crunch of the hard pack snow under my boots and the feeling of scented, cold, crisp, clean air with every breath. Magic.Thanks.

Once again greetings from the UK and thank you Lonnie for your stove videos. Now just before you posted your first video I had started constructing a heavy duty stove which one could cook on for a whole family for as long as you wanted in a grid down or no grid situation, I incorporated two side shelves, and am currently constructing two side mounted water tanks to supply hot water. I have had the stove working and I am totally satisfied that it will serve its purpose admirably. I am an aircraft engineer by trade and I am blessed by having my own little sheet metal shop, which has made production easy for me. You have done wonders in the construction of your stove with basic hand tools, and I hope all who watch your videos truly appreciate your skills.I don,t know how to go about this, but i am happy to send you some steel rivets, both one eighth of an inch pop, and solid rivets. I also have some continuous stainless steel hinge material which I am happy to send you....I want nothing for these ...I am happy to share with a fellow craftsman and outdoor survival enthuiast ...also the plans for my design you are welcome to share. Let me know if you have any idea how we can arrange this type of thing, and if you would like this stuff. Once again thank you my friend...God bless and stay safe.

Thank you much for the offer but on our last trip into town i was able to find a good supply of steel rivets so i am now restocked better than I was before. Stainless may be hard to find locally but there are plenty of hinges in town as we do have several hardware and home improvement stores in town.

I think you're my favorite KZitem bushcrafter, I always learn so much from you. Thanks for the great videos. For the elevated bottom in the stove, another solution would be to notch the conduit to fit around the lag bolts, or just to shorten them slightly to fit between the bolts.

Well done! I was impressed by your skill and resourcefulness! So much, I'm gonna do it with body sheet metal for a little extra strength and rig up a metal brake to make the bends. I use snowmobiles to get around and for winter camping. No trudging through knee deep snow for this guy. so a little extra weight and bulk will not kill me. Plus, I can braze it together. THANKS from the Great White North. Good tutorial also.

Hello Lonnie you have great videos.. I've have watched u tube about 2 years now. All ways as a lurker never have subscribed to any channel. Took me 8-9 months to just find the comments section. Your channel is my first sub. Your comment about reason you added the fault bottom was to cool the down ward radiated heat. Which gave me n. Idea that I just had to share. My idea is this- cut/drill holes in the bottom of the stove Under the fault bottom with in a couple inches of the stove door. Might want to add a draft control on these holes in the bottom of the stove. Then drill /cut holes n each of the fault floor at the back of the stove. I believe that this would do 2 things cool the stove floor more and add oxygen at the back of the stove to ignite the unburned gases same principle as the rocket stove.
@Far-North-Bushcraft-Survival

Thanks for subbing and welcome to the channel. Your ideas sound interesting but more for a home installation where utmost efficiency is more of a goal. My goal for this stove is not utmost efficiency but more of a oxygen introduction control and fuel longevity goals. I need to be able to shut this down tight and have the fire just barely smoulder along to last most of the night.
