Priceless, the distraction rectangle, i.e. our mobile phones

Oh man that bit about not allowing yourself to sit down and make art until the house is spotless and all the chores are done really resonates with me... Always waiting for/trying to create the perfect conditions, instead of DRAWING. Thanks for all these videos, they're super helpful and inspiring!

Love these tips, especially the menu idea and having it in sight. I've heard of the artist's date, but have never tried adding it to my routine. I often get inspired watching KZitem videos, but that's definitely a huge distraction too! My "watch later" list is never-ending.
@littletinyegg
Жыл бұрын
It’s so hard to take that time for yourself every week! Whenever I’m feeling uninspired though I just think about when the last time I really sought out that inspiration and then try to take myself out! And I totally feel you on the watch later haha. I’ll often watch KZitem while sketchbooking but if the video is extra engaging I’ll end up in an internet rabbit hole holding my pencil ✏️

This speaks to me. I just started my business January 2nd. I haven’t made a sale yet. I kept comparing myself to other artists and then life, including a death in the family… burnt me out. But listening to you and watching your videos inspires me to be me. Thank you! Also… F THE ALGORITHM!!!😂😂😂 😊❤

Loved the tips! I’m still trying to find that spot in my 1br apt that I share with my partner to have my supplies there looking at me. I have to tidy up every time and that prevents me from creating as much as I want. I agree with you on this point!

Luckily my partner was willing g to forgo a kitchen table in order for me to have an art space 😅 it can be hard to make the space but once you finally do it makes such a big difference!

If you’re tight on space and don’t require much space for your chosen medium, you could tuck a folding chair and tv tray in a corner and hang up a peg board like what Kristen has above their desk to display your supplies!
@newflanged_

@@AubreyFite1 that’s also a great idea!!! I’m also thinking about those foldable tables from IKEA that you screw to a wall. We’ll see! But I need to find a corner ASAP! I know myself and it would make a huge difference! 🥶

I loved art growing up but constantly compared myself to others and had some crappy teachers too that really made me doubt that I can make anything worthy. I'm trying to work through that because Alice loves art and I don't want that light snuffed out for her. Thanks for sharing Kristen! ❤️

Getting a peg board like yours for all my supplies was one of the best things I’ve done for my motivation. Thank you for the shout out to chronically artists! Means a lot to be recognized and considered 😊 and shout out to loops - was so stoked to see you using those!

Having a designated space is so essential! When I don’t have to clear up a space or look around for my supplies it’s so much easier to create. My best way to ensure that I created artwork each day in 2022 was that I had supplies and a sketchbook that I ALWAYS had in whatever bag I reach for most often. Instead of scrolling I would just grab out my sketchbook while out, created a great habit by having it with me all the time

Holy cow! This is such a valuable video~ i like that each step title is memorable and well explained💯 I definitely need to make a menu📝 Also, how do you use reels or tiktok videos without it ruining the balance of your art making? If that makes sense🤔I'd like to start but I noticed people who get more views post almost everyday or every other day, which is...overwhelming LOL

Thank you!! Menus changed my life! As for short video, the simplest way to explain it is that for process video I record a few seconds at the beginning, middle, and end of my process. But I only post once a week because I simply can’t make that much content, and a lot of my art making I record nothing 😆 Katie Mai has a really great video about reels that has helped me!

Great stuff! I'm dialed in on space, but need to slot in consistent time...and perhaps do something about the time suck of looking up new supplies and reviews online. Perhaps. :D Personally I am not a fan of the short form video and spend maybe 10 min a week on the 'gram, zero on tiktok so that's not an issue. But youtube...oh boy lol. Love the idea of a menu, as I often sit down because I want to do SOMETHING and then get a little paralyzed and unfocused...and end up just playing. Which is ok sometimes but really want to work on skill building, so a menu would be a great help. Thanks for your ideas, I like the talking style vids for sure. :)

I definitely know that feeling of sitting down to do *something* and then not knowing what- so the menu has helped me with that! KZitem is probably where I spend the most time as well so I get you there! If I have time to watch an hour long KZitem video I probably have time to draw!

I love all of these tips! I'm an engineer with a goal to expand on my creative side this year, and this was just the video I needed. Just a quick question, how are you using your phone as a mic? Are you recording audio and then syncing it up with the video later? I've just never seen that done before.
@littletinyegg
Жыл бұрын
I love that! More people should make more art. Yep I am recording audio as a voice memo because my camera doesn’t have an external mic- otherwise it would sound like I was speaking to you from an empty hallway haha. Then I just sync the sound when editing! Most KZitemrs do this they just use a mic sometimes hidden in their shirt

Opinion: it is nice & im glad I have it- if I were to do it again I would go for a nice desk lamp & a tripod because filming flatlays attached to the desk can be shaky. It is a nice light and I use it all the time to hold my phone/camera but I also use my tripod & hold my camera just as much!
