I love people who do this, there is a guy on instructables who did the same basic thing. My inoy thing is instead of using the individual boards, you really need to make up a circuit board and solder all of the individual components to the boards to keep it compact.

I think you should try and make a case for it using cold casting technique. Just design and 3d print a case for it, make a mold out of molding silicone, pour resin and metal powder into it. It would make a great wrap up for a project like this and almost certainly look very professional.

If you get a small GPS or RTC (real time clock) you can accurately keep time on it. Maybe I am old fashioned, but I think watches should still capable of accurately keeping time lol! I wonder if there are any raspberry pi type devices which would be better suited for this application in existence that are small enough... The Zero might be close but I think we can do better...

Why did you need resistors to reduce the current, when you are working with a 3.3v arduino pro mini? If you wire the LCD up directly to the board, it should work fine, right?

Did you connect diode to motor? Because when the motor "stops" left force from running will keep it rotating for few miliseconds and you will generate power and it will go backwards to arduino, eventually damage it.

+Elliot Lockett No there isn't, actually. Most tech reviewers agree the Apple Watch is the best smartwatch currently on the market, both in terms of design, customization options and functionality (for iPhone users anyway). Hey Tinkernut i'm trying to build the 3d printer from cd/dvd drives but I broke the tiny PCB foil/tab that has the 4 terminal pins. Is there anyway I could get the 4 wires to make it work again or should I choose another cd/dvd drive? Is it possible to repair it ? Thx in advance
@HalfLife2Beta
8 жыл бұрын
yeah, now I've learned some things: 1/ its not fixable (wires are too thin and fragile) 2/ superglue the shit out of the pcb tab/foil before soldering anything to it 3/ solder wires that are FLEXIBLE and not solid so no force is applied to the 4 pins.
@HalfLife2Beta
8 жыл бұрын
don't tell me you broke 3 of them at once ?? I only broke one. Just try to find more broken cd/dvd drives, I know it ain't easy and I'm myself searching for them. The easiest way is to ask friends if they have some. Solder resistant ? If you do it well without putting the iron for too long it shall be ok. Or you can just solder it and then apply the glue. Good luck !
@lucaa49

07:30 :D The chip itself is a real time clock module if you keep your watch always powered write a watch code in your arduino no point to add a "real time clock module" when you got already a microcontroller for that :D Hey I have a car let's add a 5th wheel because no reason just let's add it :D
@Tinkernut
8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where you heard that an Arduino has an RTC module built in. Programming a clock function and having an RTC are two completely different things. The point of the RTC module is to keep time even when the Arduino is off. If you simply write code, it'll be reset whenever you restart your Arduino, and therefore it'll be inaccurate or out of sync. With an RTC module, it'll keep it's synchronization even when the Arduino is turned off. To go with your analogy: I have a car with a dead battery. As long as I don't turn it off, it will continue to run, so I'll just never turn it off :D
@DominoSixO
8 жыл бұрын
Tinkernut If you follow more on arduino forum there is some examples how you can make the arduino it self a RTC yes you will need to keep it ON always, tell me what kind of hand watch is turned OFF? Do you remember the old mobilephones? like in 2001..etc the mobile phones had RTC inside but after you turn them OFF or get out the battery you should always set up the time again, you can put arduino in sleep mode or as knows on smartphone (Turning off the deslpay) the code is always running on background. The RTC module suggested in the video it got a microcontroller as well it just stays ON always, so what's the point to use 2 cars to carry a 1littre bottle of water?

WOW, nice done! Does the app consume a lot of power? Once per second is probably too much. Can Arduino keep its own time? And the phone simply update the time once per hour or something? I'm trying to set up a basic server, it was a pain in the neck trying to figure out how to self-sign SSL certificates, I managed to make it work but I don't have a clue what I did... I'm pretty sure I made some dumb steps since I had to roll back my VM multiple times. I crashed it like three times and it won't boot again, so I had to roll back. It took me 3 hours to figure out why Chromium is ignoring my awesome hosts file, and why Firefox can crash the OS (openSUSE) itself. I still haven't managed to properly install my self-signed certificate authority certificate. It will be great if you can walk us through how to make a simple LAMP server with SSL / https encryption on CHIP or Raspberry Pi.
